Raptors Republic Android & iOS App

Hey guys and gals,

We're running a, how should I say, pilot or beta version of our new Raptors Republic app. We haven't made it official as we're still trying to work out some bugs while improving the user interface. So, its not the final version so expect to see more changes over the next while.

Anyhow, please feel free to download. Available on both Android & iPhone. It's absolutely free.

Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...rsrepublic.app

iOS: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/the-...6946?ls=1&mt=8

If we could ask a favour though. We're welcoming feedback and suggestions on perhaps things you'd like to see. At the end of the day we're doing this for you guys by making everything here easier available for you the user. Please send your feedback (Regardless if its positive or negative) to raptorsrepublic@gmail.com.

Thanks in advance and we hope you guys enjoy the application.

  • Here's how the Raps season would end:

    - Lowry and DeRozan will struggle/choke in the playoffs like they always do.
    - If they play a young talented team in the 1st round like the Sixers they're going to lose. But if they play a scrub team like the Pacers it would still be an adventure.
    - If they get out of the 1st round, they're going to get swept by either the Celtics or the Cavs in the 2nd round.

By checking the highlights of the game that i'm interested in and reading the recap.

This team is just a complete waste of time and they don't interest me anymore. It's like watching a movie for the 5th time. You already know what's going to happen. You already know what the ending is going to be.
I watched when they were truly horrid so I'll certainly watch now that they are competitive, regardless of whether they are likely to go any further in the post season than the last few years. I like the game .....

Why would anyone bookmark this when we all know you've already bookmarked it for us.

Besides, it's hardly an uncommon opinion. The difference is just that you want to complain every game.

Agree re posts on Norm forcing the issue. Is it the contract or lack of playing time?
            Neither.

            It's the lack of skills.

Norm can only do one of 2 things (shoot the 3 on the swing or straight line drive) and right now he's only doing 1, the straight line drive. He's shown absolutely no in between game, no change of speed, no spin moves, no backing down, no passing game, no footwork, no step back J, no pull up jumper....nothing.

I just explained this but he's showing zero confidence in his 3pt shot, so he only has the straight line drive. The opposing defender goes under the pick waiting for Norm to drive to make for a highly contested shot when Norm already has poor touch around the basket and the help defender just needs to dig on the side where Norm puts the ball to try to get him to turn it over.

He's not going to develop all those skills over night but he should be spending every moment he can picking DeMar's brain and working with him where he can to add some refinement to his game. In the interim he needs show some fortitude and take those open 3s with confidence and get back first and foremost to playing nasty defense. It was actually those 2 things that got him in the rotation to begin with. Now he's not doing either and overthinking how he can make that straight line drive work while letting everything else fall by the waist side. His confidence actually feeds off of his defense, getting steals, break away dunks, run outs and the ability to shoot in open space....defense should be his absolute top priority and go from there...

We beat the Sixers in 5 if it makes it that far. They have Embiid and Simmons and Simmons cant shoot. Their third best player would be JJ Reddick and he relies on other people to make him better far too often. Their first guy off the bench is Timothe Luwawu. The Sixers are so thin depth wise.

Covington is their 3rd best player. Best 3 and D in the league.
If we knew half as much about coaching an NBA team as we think, we"d know twice as much as we do.

Oh yes him. Still can't create his own shot though. Shut down Embiid at all and we will the series easily.

More talent but yes iso-ball and no defense.

Thibs also needs to stop running his players into the ground. This isn't the 90s, the game is played at a much higher speed and pace. He's just asking for an injury or "best case" scenario exhausted players come Playoff time that will just get humiliated when they're already poor defenders but will but will lack any gas to at least be competitive especially be the 2nd round when they absolutely will be forced a showdown with one of GSW, HOU or SAS.

This season won't end well for the TWolves.

Wolves are a young team and Thibs is trying to instill a strong work ethic into them. It's going to take something extreme for them to come out of the west and it's not going to be by letting them grow organically. They are still a couple years away from potentially being contenders, so he's trying to condition them to go hard at all times.

I bought into Covington as a penny stock 2-3 years ago and it's paying off like Bitcoin now. lol.

Clutch situations by nature will be a small sample size, no?
Yeah, especially the finer breakdowns into < final 30 sec, < final 1 min, etc. you see a lot of fluctuation. But if you just look at overall clutch numbers, especially from year to year, there's a fair amount of consistency. DeMar's numbers for example are more in line with his regular %'s while Kyle's dip a bit more. I really think that's due to Lowry's small size and relative lack of athleticism and lack of a bag of tricks for creating space/shots. But nothing so bad as 50-60% FT% like was claimed.

Anyway, Lebron has often bucked the clutch trend by "making the basketball right play" instead of just taking the shot himself every time, that's something a team like the Raptors should be doing imho but it also means we have to be okay with them doing that then a guy like FVV potentially missing a game winning shot. Some fans also get pissed if the star makes a pass and a role player misses the game winner.

                            • Thibs and Casey are super similar. Both defensive assistants for championship teams (2008 Celtics, 2011 Mavs). Ride or die with their stars. Old-school tough nosed styles. It's not a surprise the Wolves play how we have for the past 4 years.

Wiggins is basically a poor man's DeRozan right now too.
