This game is a good mental test for the Raps. Anytime you come back from a 4 game western road swing with 3 wins it’s a good thing..a really good thing. They should be stoked....

The Nets are not the rancid high draft choice donation unit they were a couple years ago. Shawn Marks has McGuyvered together a team that can win games if their opponents aren’t ready for them.

Raps win this one but it’s going to be close. There will be more than a few “fire Casey’s”...”why didn’t Demarre play like that for us”.....”I am so done with this team”....and “we should have traded Norm instead Carroll” posts during what might be a pretty close game.

Raps W....and well...maybe no posts on Norm instead of Demarre.

tbh, That article throws as much shade on the past as it does praise the present. Nick Nurse is once again getting a ton of credit, along with Masai. DeMarre Carroll gets some vindication....

After being traded to Brooklyn in July, DeMarre Carroll told Ryan Wolstat of the Toronto Sun that the Raptors didn't trust each other enough and he would have preferred a more free-flowing offense. Months later, after saying that "everybody changed my words and tried to kill me" when his comments were published, Carroll praised Toronto's new direction.

"They're playing like you're supposed to play," Carroll said. "Move the ball, shoot the 3, get other guys involved. They're playing the right way. That's basketball. "

Nets are much better than they have been.. but still not great. Their best player is probably RHJ but he seems a bit awkward on offense.

They shoot a lot of 3's (take the second most in the league after Houston) but they don't make a lot (3pt% is 3rd worst in the league, even worse than the Raps). Make their shots tough and this should end well.

First home game after a road run is also always tough. Going to be a sleepless night if we lose to this team. And I could use some good sleep tonight

That Carroll trade is looking terrible now. Had we implemented this style with him there would've been no need for Miles at all. Gave away picks to save money.

Funny thing is, people here are still complaining despite our new offense, including one poster who watched years of hero ball, then stopped watching now that our offence actually fits the modern NBA.

Yeah they've been aesthetically pleasing to the eye.. something I wished for since the early "Fire Casey" days. Still not sure if this team/offense could beat Cleveland though. So it might not make that much of a difference once the playoffs start.

The thing is even with the new style. If Lowry/DD play bad results will be the same.

Lowry's been healthy *knock on wood* so far and playing low minutes/low usage. There's no excuse this time for a bad playoff performance. Really needs to step up this year if we wanna beat Cavs/Cs

Well, we had arguably negative chance with the old style given how mentally defeated Lowry and DeRozan looked, sounded and played. Now we have 5%, maybe 10% chance to pull an upset of the Cavs with the new style. I would have been worried about going against Brad Stevens with the old style, but not as much now.

Nail on the head. Running a Rockets style offense has high variability due to 3 point shooting. When we can't hit our 3's, we get games like vs the Clippers and Suns. But if we get hot from 3, it opens the floor for DD's mid-range plus JV/Yaks finishing ability at the rim. Plus we have enough defenders to give us the 5-10% punchers chance for the upset of even a healthy Cavs team.
