D. Howard was a beast and a difference maker when he was younger/healthier and the league style of play rewarded big men.

D.Howard is in the same catagory as Vince Carter, just a borderline Hall of Famer.

Kings were a perennial contender when he was there. He left, and the Kings are back to being irrelevant again.

It's appaling that a guy like TMac who has never gotten past the 1st round is in the HOF and Webber is not.

The thing about the Hall of Fame is who is "better" is pretty irrelevant. They aren't there to make their own personal judgments on which players were more valuable to their teams. They look at counting stats, All Star honours, All Pro honours, MVP votes - basically they look at your resume.

And sadly for Webber his resume is not better than T-Mac, and I don't think it's better than Howard either. Whether he was actually better than him in his prime or not is irrelevant.

I agree with literally everything you said in this post. I can’t believe I just wrote that. And yes, CWebb is seriously underrated by most people. He was crazy good and probably the 5th best power forward of all time behind Duncan Garnett nowitzki and Malone.

I love this deal but I also think that getting my hopes up for a franchise altering deal will only lead to heartbreak.

I love this deal but I also think that getting my hopes up for a franchise altering deal will only lead to heartbreak.

The more I look at it, the more this deal makes sense for all 3 teams:

Clippers: Get an instant all-star backcourt in their prime, who can get them into the playoffs. Doc Rivers is under a lot of pressure to win now.

Raps: Get 3 1st round picks & 3 serviceable NBA players who can all shoot from distance. Can be packaged for future trades. The pressure on Nurse/Ujiri to win 59 games is off, and we still have the option to tank for Barrett. Nurse gets to install his habits with a blank slate, without having to battle Lowry and Derozan.

Mavs: Get the big man they've coveted for a long time and a young athletic wing player to replace Matthews.

Bonus: Derozan goes home, so we reward him for his loyalty and send him with his best buddy, who will love the attention in L.A.

Win. Win. Win. Win.

I don't think Jerry West does that for the Clippers though, even with Poeltl thrown in there it's questionable. He's going pretty hard after Kawhi with those same assets.

I think it makes sense for Dallas and for us (though I feel it's better for us than anything else) - though I believe we should be sending another asset to Dallas: maybe Wright?
