Mbah a Moute signing a one year deal with LAC. Houston has now lost two really good wing defenders in Moute and Ariza. They've had a pretty tough summer. They still need to work out a deal to keep Capela.

I hear the Cavs are looking to move Korver. He has a contract for $7.5 million this season. In 2019-2020, he also has a $7.5 million deal with $3.4 million guaranteed. 10 hours ago – via Cleveland Plain Dealer
Could always use shooting.. but the guy is 37 years old now. Could trade him into our TPE and give back a 2nd rounder for him.

I think I'd still swing for the fences on Kawhi. If the goal is to lift the ceiling as high as possible, Kawhi can be the best player on a championship team - I don't know if Jimmy Butler can.

white men can't jump wrote: View PostFirst, DeMar has basically been proven to not be a true franchise player. If he's the #1 option of your team, it's ceiling is capped. He has repeatedly been unable to lead this team to any meaningful playoff success.
Second, he has never shown the kind of abilities that go well next to another top tier wing scorer. Can you play him off Kawhi? Teams don't respect Demar's 3. Do you make Kawhi be the #2 option and continue to use the flawed DeMar as #1.
If you trade DeMar for Kawhi, you make Kawhi the #1 option with Lowry and JV picking up the slack as your other weapons. Both play better with others, and OG fits as a 3&D guy, while Ibaka also can be effective as a shooter in that lineup.
That lineup is far more balanced on both ends than anything you'd be left with trading JV or Lowry instead...both of whom the Spurs aren't likely to be interested in. JV can opt out after next season so he could be a rental, and Lowry is aging...so for either one we need a lot of sweetener, and if it comes down to prospects/picks other teams can outbid us quite easily.
Pretty much the only deal that does make sense is trading DeMar for Kawhi, and it is also the one most likely to increase the ceiling of the team.

planetmars wrote: View PostLooks like the Carroll TPE (about $11.8M) is expiring tonight. We still have the Joseph TPE (about $7.6M) so can still trade for Korver without giving any players back (as an example). That one expires on the 14th.
Also, the Joseph TPE was partially used in the Bruno trade, so it is just above 6M in value now. We have a Bruno TPE at 2.4M that lasts until next winter.

Everyone on vacation or what?
