Kawahi is a bad communicator, that did not communicate well with his team.
Kawahi proved to be an immature person throughout this process, noy suiting up for when he was medically clear, forcing Spurs to trade him and telling everyone he will resign with LAL.

Spurs need this deal more then the Raps and hold very little leverage so Raps can walk away.

It works if the Raptors take back Pau, or Mills, or Green. Any of those three, with varying degrees of impact on the Raptors future cap sheet.

The probably most preferable version would be DeMar/Poeltl/Delon/Norm and a 1st for Kawhi/Pau, which has the Raptors payroll going down a little bit, too, but requires the Spurs to like Norm.

This is why I said it's hard to say how that trade would've impacted the Raptors cap sheet, without knowing the full trade, because it's not that simple. You have to know the full slate of assets going each direction.

To match the salary the Raps are sending out there, the Spurs need to send out between 26M and 40M in salaries. Kawhi makes just above 20M.
