I believe it was either The Who or lebron James who said

"Meet the newlooks...same as the oldlooks"
This year.. we won't get fooled again.

    • How many looks could a newlook look if a newlook looked so new?

So you don't think anyone else in the league would pay him that given his resume?
Some desperate franchise sure. I'm not saying I don't understand why they did it. I just think it's a massive overpayment given his skills in this stage of his career.

LOL look at the age difference tho. Demar is in his prime and signed the contract when he was 25-26 year old. He'll be 30 I believe when his contract is over. So the Raptors were able to trade him 2 years into his contract at the age of 28.

Love is 29 years old as of now. He'll be 33-34 by the time his contract is up. By your logic, you expect the Cavs to be able to trade his stupidly high contract (at the age of 33-34) for a player of Kawhi's caliber (keeping in mind that this is a very rare situation). Not gonna happen. No one will want to pay Love $30 mill a year at that age. He will greatly decline by then and will be known a defensive liability (even more so than he already is).
Having said that, Love isn't one to rely on speed or elite athleticism to put up allstar numbers. He has the potential to age better than someone like Blake Griffin.

True, but he's already a defensive liability at the age of 29. Only gonna get older and slower from here on out. How bad is he gonna be on defense at the age of 30-33. Team are gonna abuse the shit out of him on the switch.

If there are other teams willing to pay then they didn't pay a premium, they paid market price.

And they are a desperate team. They just lost LeBron James and were one of the most pathetic franchises in league history prior to drafting him.

Also remember that it doesn't matter who signs the deal, it matters who pays the deal. You're assuming they intend to keep him long term. I don't think that's likely.

Gotta keep butts in seats. Dan Gilbert has fuck you money, and too much pride to let Lebron dictate Cavs having dark dark days for the 2nd time in less than 10 years. If Love isn't worth 30 (he's not), he's probably worth 25, and its a bit of a back payment for helping win a championship and being a loyal foot soldier

And that's why we have no reason to fear the Cavs for a very long time

If the Cavs really didn't intend to keep him long term, why not just sign him to a 3 year deal similar to Lowry? You keep him happy for now and you can shed his shit contract one year earlier. There's more value in that. They can potentially off load that contract much easier in the future!

Honestly wouldn’t have worried about them even if they had Lebron. Throw Kawhi on Lebron, let him defend him 1 on 1 and defend the shooters with high iq defenders like Green, OG and Lowry.

Kawhi is one the few people who can defend Lebron 1 on 1.

Yeah, it did feel like Casey and DeRozan were the 2 biggest problems when it came to LeBronto.

Danny Green is not what he used to be but I think he can d up Korver and JR Smith

And I'm fairly certain Nurse wouldn't have Lowry guard Love for multiple possessions....
