Winning 4 titles is what separates him from DeRozan. But if the roles were reversed, if DeRozan played with Duncan in the 2000's, he'd win 4 championships too. If Ginobili on the other hand played with the Raptors, we'd be talking about him as just another good scorer. Just like DeRozan is now.

Manu was certainly a better offensive player than defensive player. But he was no DeMar in that regard.

Tony Parker is another one. Both of them should thank Duncan for winning all those championships.

Can Tony Parker or Ginobili carry a team to a championship? the answer is no. Prime Lowry is better than prime Parker. But Parker is likely a hall of famer, Lowry is not. Why? because of Tim Duncan.

And I don't really care what anybody says, Tim Duncan was the greatest player of his era. People would argue Shaq or Kobe. Duncan > Shaq and Kobe.

But we do know that Manu has 4 titles as a top 3 player and any other core with that many titles to their resume has 3 guys in the hof.

And hell Derozan could very well go too, hes on the cusp at his current trajectory. This next chapter and few seasons with (ironically) the spurs will decide what is likely to happen when he retires

Ginobili was clutch in the playoffs, for the most part. Completely the opposite of DeMar in that regard.

Dont forget how easy the nba hall of fame entry is compared to other sports. It's the easiest of the big 4, and light years easier than baseball. When you only draft in 60 guys a year, only play 10 guys per team and still elect 3 every season it's easy to see why

No. Even an MVP calibre big man still needs a guard or wing who can create shots in late game situations. Parker and Ginobili were those guys.

2005, spurs over pistons in game 7. Game 5 in Detroit was a 1 pt overtime spurs win. Ginobili had 9 assists including setting up horry and drawing a double team to get him open. Otherwise pistons win and take a 3 2 series lead, they won game 6 in San antonio

He was still really good- to the tune of 17 and 12 in the finals...in a lockout shortened year where the spurs drew an 8th seed who lost their best player (ewing) in game 2. 99 was their easiest of the 5 titles

Still good but not the same David Robinson. Robinson at his best was a perennial 25/10 player.

Tim Duncan was already the best player on the Spurs in 99 and it's not close.

Ginobili was a star that opted to coming off the bench. Unorthodox player, clutch in the crunch, all around scorer, was a very, very good defender, and saw the floor with eyes on the back of his head. He was instrumental in all titles. The most overrated conversation... is overrated.

I'd rather have prime Ginobili over prime DeRozan. Imagine if Ginobili had played +35 minutes a night. He was that good.
