Third, the closer you are to the deadline to cut salary to dodge the tax, the more teams will look to gouge you. So while I could see a team taking a flyer on Norm this spring, at a low cost (possibly nothing, possibly a 2nd rounder, possibly even sending us a low value pick if Masai is on his game), next spring I'd expect the cost is a 1st rounder plus, like the Carroll dump trade.
