  • Thought it was a good article regarding workout dodgers at the draft.

    https://www.yahoo.com/sports/darko-e...224129270.html

Everyone from Australian guard Dante Exum to big-man Thon Maker to super-flop Mouhamed Sene opted for the comfort of the unknown over the risk of exposure. And it worked for all of them. Exum went No. 5 out of Australia and Maker went No. 10 after time at a Canadian prep school. Sene used one dazzling Hoops Summit performance to hoodwink the Seattle brass into making him perhaps the most irrelevant top-10 pick of this generation. Their careers have taken different trajectories, but they all ended up as Darko disciples of competitive predraft apathy. (And so have many others to varying degrees, including Enes Kanter, Terrance Ferguson and the immortal Bruno Caboclo, who is still two years away from being two years away.)

      • Warriors are planning to buy a 2nd round pick this draft.

Can we like get on that shit too?! When was the last time Raptors bought a draft pick?! How dissapointing it will be without any draft picks because of failed acquisitions of Ibaka and Tucker.

I don't think you trade Ben Simmons for Kawhi straight up. Spurs would need to throw something in.
The Spurs would be taking back equivalent salary for Philly to make room for LeBron or another star like Paul George. That's what the Spurs throw in, and it would probably involve Philly throwing in picks on top of Simmons.

I think Simmons is arguably a generational talent, but the problem is simple: he can't shoot AT ALL and unless he fixes that at least partially he isn't one, period, he's a rich man's Tony Allen. The Boston series proved that you can simply minimize defense on Simmons without any pain.

One would hope Simmons can fix this, but maybe he can't. Or maybe he pulls a Ricky Rubio and takes a decade to become an average shooter. Those are very possible scenarios.

          • They said the same thing about Lebron...Can't shoot, will never be great..etc... High IQ BBL players will find a way to get it done.

Simmons will be a legit All-Star first team player for years to come. I wouldn't trade him for Kawahi, something is up with that guy both physically & mentally.

Sure, it would be good if they could buy a pick. But especially late in the 2nd round (when picks tend to be for sale), a lot of agents are warning teams against drafting players (as FVV's did) so they can try their luck as an undrafted free agent with 30 teams to negotiate with. Masai already proved with FVV that he can land that sort of talent.

If they can get into the top half of the second round, that's different, but those picks usually move for assets rather than cash. So I'm a little indifferent on the buy-a-pick front. I am interested to see what we can do in trade though.

Maybe, but Mo's wingspan will be the longest in NBA history

It doesn't mean anything beyond the guy has long arms. Certainly isn't a predictor of NBA success.
