Lowry’s play dropping off from the regular season to the playoffs has been very real. Even worse when you look at game to game consistency. This year was much, much better, but that’s relative to how bad he’s been before that.
Yes, but he is still generally a positive. He has never become unplayable to the degree DeMar has.

He's a worse playoff performer than DeRozan. Obviously he was much better this past post season. But it's not really saying much. Everyone talks about the CLE series but really, he had 1 good game in that series...or 1 good quarter.

G1 - He was so so.
G2 - He was bad. But no one really showed up for the Raptors in G2.
G3 - People will always remember his heroic effort in the 4th of G3.
      G4 - 5 points.

There's a reason why the media always talk about "will Kyle Lowry show up" before the playoffs began.

The Raptors win Lowry's minutes in the playoffs. Consistently.

The Raptors lose DeMar's minutes in the playoffs. Consistently.

        That's a big, important difference.

Short memory i see. Remember the Indiana and Miami series?

Hell, i remember people talking about starting Cory Joseph over Kyle Lowry in that series.

Sure, Lowry’s been...... okay. But unlike other all stars that maintain or elevate their regular season game in the playoffs, our stars shrink to sometimes epic proportions. Casey was the coaching equivalent of our all stars becoming unglued in the playoffs... maybe worse. It’s kind of sad that we praise Kyle because he wasn’t “unplayable”.

              Fun facts!

In the Indiana series, DeMar DeRozan had a -8.9 on-court net rating, and a +9.9 off-court net rating. Lowry had a -0.4 on-court net rating, and a -19.6 off-court net rating.

              In the Miami series, DeRozan had a +0.4 on-court net rating, and a -1.0 off-court net rating(Positive differential!). Lowry had a +10.7 on-court net rating, and a -44.1 off-court net rating.

              • DeMar has been more awful but Lowry has had really bad games. Game 1 against Milwaukee last season was really bad for him.. I mean he was playing really scared. He was pretty bad in Game 1 against Indiana as well if I recall.

But we've seen a few KLOE moments (not as many as I would have liked). DeMar has had some good offensive games. but the biggest difference between the two is defense. And in the playoffs that's critical. If you can't stop the guy in front of you what's the point right? Defense wins championships after all

Lowry can play defense.. and is a big time contributor. DeMar rarely does.. and that's a problem that only a guy like Kawhi can fix

                • OG for Kawhi is the tough pill to swallow. Can live with it since its Kawhi.. but man will really miss OG if he has to be included.

Yeah I know.. but still.. It's strongly linking Kawhi to Toronto.. Let me keep dreaming.

If true, that’s a steep price for a damn rental. The deal is probably hung up on OG. Otherwise, the Spurs need to take that sh*t and run.

Not short memory. DeMar was terrible in that playoff run. He had like 2 good games through the first two rounds. He also got benched at least once down the stretch of a game...I think against Indy? But it may have been in the Miami series. That bit I can't remember anymore, but it was in that playoff run.

Lowry was bad against Indy, but he also stepped up big time when JV went out against Miami. JV was the best player on our team in that playoff run until he went down. Lowry carried the baton through the Miami series, so I think you might be having memory issues there, TRex. Lowry has mostly struggled because he is too worn out and hobbled by the time we get to the playoffs.

DeMar just struggles to assert himself. His scoring efficiency goes down but he still gets a high volume of shots, and he doesn't do much else on either end in the playoffs, at least not at a high impact level (he has a few acceptable playmaking games from time to time, but not reliably). Lowry can still impact the game on both ends when he isn't scoring well, and that's generally the story of Lowry's playoffs with Toronto. He hasn't been good enough, but he's rarely ever been dragging the team down (he was godawful in that Wiz sweep).

Ironically, the most reliable playoff performer over Casey's tenure was his favourite scapegoat, JV. Other than the first Wiz series, where everyone was terrible (and he still wasn't close to the most terrible, and that was easily Lowry's worst series) and the Milwaukee series where he wasn't actually that bad or anything, and where I still blaming coaching more than anything (because JV has destroyed Milwaukee in the past when they actually used him), he was always good or amazing. Even as a young 2nd year player against BKL, he was great all things considered, and mostly struggled with the refs when they seemed to decide Garnett was getting embarrassed too much by this kid.
