  • Game #61: Toronto Raptors 102 - Washington Wizards 95

    Expected starters:

    Wizards:
    Tomas Satoransky
    Bradley Beal
    Otto Porter
    Markieff Morris
    Marcin Gortat

    Raptors:
    Kyle Lowry
    DeMar DeRozan
    OG Anunoby
    Serge Ibaka
    Jonas Valanciunas

Toronto is 4th in ORTG and 3rd in DRTG. They sit 1st in the East, 0.5 games up on Boston, with 3 games in hand.

Washington is 9th in ORTG and 13th in DRTG. Their offence has edged up to 6th in the 14 games John Wall has missed recently, in which they've gone 10-4 to climb to 4th in the East, 1 game behind Cleveland for 3rd, though Cleveland has two games in hand.

This is the fourth and final meeting with Washington this year. All three previous games have been without John Wall playing (which is really odd - one of the games came in his current 14 game injury stretch, but the first two were both in the Wizards' first 18 games of the season, and were the only two games Wall missed in those first 18 games). This wraps up a mini two-game road trip before playing Charlotte in Toronto on Sunday.

This is going to be a good test for this team. Washington lost to GSW but they've been hot without Wall. They pass the ball a lot, and everyone seems to get involved on offense. They don't have a strong bench though, so if our bench plays like they should then this should be a win.

I believe this game will be nationally televised in the states.

Don't know where else to put this so throwing it in the next game thread.. but it looks like Orlando/Weltman is eyeing Stackhouse to be their next head coach.

      From the Sporting News:
      http://www.sportingnews.com/nba/news...h1xftio43vtxxw

      — Orlando could be making a coaching change, with former NBA player Jerry Stackhouse seen as the Magic’s No. 1 choice to replace Frank Vogel. After a 20-year career in which he was twice an All-Star, Stackhouse has coached Toronto’s G-League team and has close ties to Jeff Weltman, now running the Magic as president of basketball operations after being with the Raptors and seeing Stackhouse up close when he was an assistant coach.

It'd be nice to give them what we gave the Celtics....bit of a message before the playoffs

3rd game in 4 nights for the Whiz.
Raps on an every other day game cadence for the last 10 days.
So far on US National TV the Raps have dusted the NewLooks and the Chowderheads by 34 and 20.
This is a possible 2nd round matchup so nothing like sending a little reminder that your the big dog in this fight.

There's no such thing as a 2nd round bust.

sounds like something Shaq would say.
Shaq: I'm not going to vote for Casey as Coach of the Month because I need to see Lowry & Derozan show up in playoffs.
                        Barkley: What?
Shaq: HOW MANY RINGS YOU GOT?

Brooks won because the Wiz had success without arguably their best player. That will take votes away from the Raptors/Casey. Plus they beat the Raptors as well in February.
