Can we give Nick Nurse some credit? Its a make or miss league, but he generates great open 3s in his offense. Also we saw some very good ball movement and plays today. The play where theres a double screen up top (Lowry being the 2nd screener) always leads to good results: Kawhi got a wide open dunk.
I thought that was an extremely well coached game. Every time Boston looked like they were going to pick up a little momentum, Nurse adapted with a time out, switched coverage or a substitution. Boston has some good personnel. You can't keep them down for a whole game, but you can adjust quickly if your players are healthy. Keep it up Nick.

Highly unlikely around here. Coaches don't matter in wins and are the cause of all issues in losses ..... Nurse play generates tons of open looks but until recently, we were 26th in made threes % .....getting a ton better ecently

Yeah I wanna give some props to Nick on this one. I've been critical, but he did the right things on this Celtics game, anchored/staggered bench units with started, and the defence looked crisp. Kudos.

This was a very well coached game. Saw a lot of nice plays being run, solid rotations and good timeouts, especially the one in the second half when Celtics made a run.

          • “From what I could see tonight, that was as well as we’ve helped each other in a long time,” said Raptors head coach Nick Nurse. “Not maybe all year but in a long time. It was early help, it was often, it wasn’t perfect but it was a hustle. It wasn’t quite the right rotations all the time but it didn’t matter, we were pursuing the ball early when we were beaten, making them make another play and when they would zing it out, somebody would be right underneath that guy and we did it all over again.”

If we knew half as much about coaching an NBA team as we think, we"d know twice as much as we do.

              • Just imagine if we had a full season with these guys learning Nurses playbook.

You mean the Lowry screen. Fans cheer the dunk but that's basketball porn

Yeah it's called stack PnR and they've used it a lot all year but that play is probably the cleanest I've seen it executed. Coop on the front page has whole articles on this set, always a great read.

It'll never be but I wish "Plays of the Night" highlights were actually that - great basketball plays. Not just low probability plays, like halfcourt heaves and blind layup attempts, that happened to go in that one time out of 50.

The Starters do Leigh Ellis' really solid play of the night, which is essentially that.

Zach lowe could do 30 min a night and I'd watch it every time

I would say that the team is well-coached and prepared but they don't always have the focus, intensity and effort to make it all work. Last night, they were dialed-in with a full complement of players and, so, they played well. I think a lot of the finger pointing at Nurse more properly belongs with the players who have played far too casually at times all season.
