  • Is Indiana without Dipo tougher than say Brooklyn or Detroit? I mean even if Indiana gets home court, I see Boston beating them. Too much talk about Boston sucking, but they could still get to the 2nd round.. and their ceiling could be as high as Toronto's (if we aren't careful).

Lesson learned from last season.. do the trash talking when the season ends.. not before its over.

To be the champs you got to beat the champs

      • I'd definitely bet bos in a 1st round series against indy. I'd cheer for indy, which is why i wouldnt actually bet lol...can't cheer against my coin. But folks gotta stop sleeping on that celtics team. They look fucked for sure, but they got the talent to make a run. Let's hope they dont get motivated to play to their ability when thr playoffs roll around.

With regard to celts and lakers, the fact that everyone on the roster is on the block outside of LBJ and kyrie probably has alot to do with it. All those guys know that their teams aren't really invested in their futures. Hard to get up knowing that.

            • Well the Lebrons West got clipped by the Clippers on their home floor last night.

They are 5 back in the loss column with the Clips and Spurs.(effectively 6 with the Spurs as San Antonio holds the tie breaker) with 18 to go....Its time to play Taps for the Lakers this season.....

Its going to be a full on shit show in the off season ... LaVar Ball will be in full vocal flight.....Magic will be pointing the finger at everyone but himself.. Lebron will be speaking with a degree of circumlocution reserved for career politicos ....and Rich Paul will crucified if Davis goes to Boston instead of LA...

Maybe they try to get the band back together again by signing Kyrie and trading for Love.....

Come early.. bring popcorn and get a good seat.....
There's no such thing as a 2nd round bust.

              • Can't believe the Clippers are in 7th and have a chance for 6th (only 1/2 game back, but have lost the tiebreaker to Utah). Never saw that happening, especially after they traded Harris. So they are "tanking" (trading their best player for less quality players) but are still winning. Jerry West has some type of golden touch.

Doc Rivers is a pretty decent coach, when he just sticks to coaching. Why did this have to be the year the paper clips got their sh*t together? Top to bottom, that's a good organization now.

Why does it matter that this was the year they got their shit together? How does this effect us

Did they get their shit together, though? Scrapping and clawing for a chance to get swept in the 1st round.

I know the bar is very low when discussing the Clips, but is this really an inviting situation for Kawhi (based purely on basketball reasons)?

If the Clips get Kawhi, they're a 50-55 win team in the West next year. Winning is the Raps only advantage right now. Clips are equal or better at everything else: (1) wealthiest NBA owner who is passionate about the team, (2) championship calibre coach who was a former player, & (3) legend in the front office who helped build the Warriors. And some things we simply can't compete (weather, close to home). It's going to be an uphill battle.

We have to make the Finals this year - that's why Masai made the semi-panic Gasol trade. No pressure, Nurse.

First .. happy that the Clips have turned things around .. They unloaded Griffin / Paul and Jordan when they figured they had reached their apex of bieng a 2nd round playoff team.. .and inside of 2 years are still in the playoffs and have some help coming in the way of draft picks and some free agency money to throw around....

But no matter what they do.. they will always be the second banana in LA...

                          As to your points....a counter...

                          1. There is a salary cap and thats a great equalizer.... but so too does MLSE have incredibly deep pockets. There won't be any tag days held for the sports empire called MLSE... They easily compete with Balmer on money any day any time.
                          2. Doc Rivers is a good coach.. a really good coach......Nick Nurse isn't in the same tier as Doc right now.. but if he makes a deep run this year that puts him there with Rivers...
                          3. Jerry West is a great judge of talent and can make a quick hard decision on personell and he rarely if ever gets burned.... but Ujiri is in the same tier as the Logo and has as polished a resume

As to geography.. no changing that..... but winning fixes just about anything....

Appreciate that, Demo, but that made things worse. Clippers being 2nd banana and out of the spotlight fits Kawhi's personality to a T. And when it comes to salary cap, they've got 2 max slots if they can unload Gallo as an expiring, which won't be hard. That does open up a worse-case scenario for the Raps. If Kawhi is joining the Clips 100% for sure, then we could take back Gallo's 2020 expiring + a pick/prospect (Shai?) in a sign & trade. Raps would still be a 50 win team in the East next season with a billion dollars in expiring contracts in 2020 to start the re-bulid / re-tool.

Its an even playing field perhaps even on the 51% side for your toronto raptors...save for weather..

But if Jordan could play in sub tropical Chicago...and Lebron could play in Cleveland.... so too can Kawhi Leonard play in Toronto and head home to San Diego after the season....

                              To early to tell...

However the narrative sure has changed from this past July.. when Kyrie Irving was forecast as being a slam dunk to be back in Boston and Leonard might not even report to Toronto and if he did he wouldn't put out....

                              • Don't forget guys get comfortable in good situations. They're very much aware that "the grass isn't always greener on the other side"

It's not easy to be the new kid in school every single year. Kawhi with every day gets more used to the city, creates deeper bonds with teammates and staff, knows his way around the arena. These things matter. They're why the team you play for usually has to royally fuck shit up for guys to bolt.

For him it's like "Sure, the Clippers COULD be a good opportunity...but I've got proof in front of me that the Raptors ARE a good opportunity.."
