So tonight 4 games on tap in whats been a pretty tame opening round of the NBA playoffs. 3 are close out games and one is for which team gets the upper hand in what has turned out to be the most competative series in the first eight.
Close out games
Magic vs Raps. The Raps after dropping the first game of the series which is becoming (apologies to the Masters) a tradition like no other have since that game methodically beat the shit out of the Magic. It hasn't been close. The Raps close out the Magic tonight. Raps W.
Nets vs Hinkies . The Hinkies are the punk kids of the East. They smirk a lot as they go about their business. Tonight they get the opportunity to close out a game against an matched team in the Nets at home.
Does the out of shape Joel try another hard foul on a much younger and smaller Jared Allen ? Will Dudley continue to get under the skin of Ben Simmons and throw him off the task at hand ? Will Jimmy Butler chaffe over not being even the second option on this team ? Will Tobias Harris continue to show why if the Hinkies have to make a choice between him and Butler that he is the choice. ? Can the Nets pull it together for a win when no one expects them to do so ? In sequence..... No... Yes...Yes... Yes... and YES.
In a game they should win the Hinkies fall at home to the Nets in an improbable upset. The Nets lost the last one in Brooklyn as opposed to Philly winning it after having their asses handed to them in games 2 and 3. Tonight the shots from 3 will fall and the Nets go back home with a win over the smug Hinkies with hope. Nets W.
OKC vs Blazers. The injury to Paul George is showing here. He is not right and in this contest he needs to be. Russell Westbrook does a lot of things other worldly but shooting from the arc isn't one of them. Terry Stotts is taking advantage of that. Both Lillard and McCollum have played very very well for the Blazers and Enes Kanter has given the Blazers 90% of what they lost in Nurkic. Traditionally a tough team to beat at home the Blazers in a very close one .. close out the Blazers who once again go on an offseason hunt for 3 point shooter to spread the floor for Westbrook. They have to. WEstbrook might have the most unmoveable contract outside of John Wall. Blazers W.
Spurs vs Nuggets In the pivotal game 5 of the series the Nuggets get the Spurs at home. This series for the Nuggets has gone as Jamal Murray goes. In the two games he has played to his talent they have won. Murray is a tough minded kid and doesn't wilt under the pressure of a playoff run. Expect Rogers kid to show up in spades tonight. Facing him will be DD and LMA. Its going to be a slugfest the rest of the way but the Nuggets post the win tonight and head back to San Antonio in the drivers seat. Nuggets W. .Last edited by Demographic Shift; Tue Apr 23, 2019, 12:34 PM.There's no such thing as a 2nd round bust.

You have Blake Griffin at 32M$ AAV for 3 more years... hes 30 and has an injury history
You have Andre Drummon at 25M$ for 2 more years... he isn't what the league values .. a back to the basket centre who can't stretch the floor.
You havee Reggie Jackson at 18M for 1 more year.....who is in the bottom quartile of PGs in the league and has a rep as a head case.
You have all your firsts... but no seconds for 4 years....
Your cap hit next year is already over at 123M$
What are your moves mr tear it down and start over... ?
Who is taking on those deals for high draft choices....
The floor is yours...It ain't pretty in Motown.. Thats why Casey has a 5 year deal.
EDIT... added in the cap situation...Last edited by Demographic Shift; Tue Apr 23, 2019, 04:22 PM.There's no such thing as a 2nd round bust.

Whenever someone implies that a team is stuck with "X terrible contract(s)", I always think back to the fact that both Bargnani and Turkoglu were traded for serviceable pieces.
Anything's possible. If there were 30 smart GMs in the league, we'd have 30 good teams

Just asking my shoot from the hip friend to expand a little on his statement....like how you go about it......
Its akin to me telling you. .. you should just tear your life down and get richer...
To your example...Barney had a year left on his deal....and in relative terms he took up about 15% of the cap at that window in time... I have no idea what we paid to move on from TurkeyGlue....
..
For a compare... the heart of the PIstons team takes up ~ 55% of the Pistons salary cap... Blake at 25... Drummond at 20 and Reggie at 15...
BTW...while your getting richer.. .go all in and give up drinking ...get taller and thinner as well ..There's no such thing as a 2nd round bust.

Or pair him up with Durant in NY. Durant + Blake + top 3 pick. Knicks would instantly become a powerhouse.
Drummond would be a lot tougher to move because he's complete shit.Mamba Mentality

Alot of teams would love to have Blake on their team. Pair him up with LeBron in LA and sign someone like Irving in free agency and they would instantly be a contending team.

- Name 3...
- Seriously... the LA Lakers after gutting their team and riding out a true Magic Johnson fuck up move to get Anthony Davis mid stream which didn't work out at all... make it all better by signing not an Irving or a Durant .. but they blow their cap space on a trade for Blake Griffin...

- First you have to orchestrate a move to get Durant to NYC .. then with Durant... you likely chase a guard.. not another PF
Drummond would be a lot tougher to move because he's complete shit.
- Drummond is not what its in demand.... Boogie Cousins couldn't get a sniff in FA and he ranks higher than Drummond on the list of C's....
Not so easy is it....Last edited by Demographic Shift; Tue Apr 23, 2019, 06:24 PM.There's no such thing as a 2nd round bust.

55 cents. Thats what it costs to mail something. And thats what it felt like watching the Raps and Hinkes close out the Magic and the Nets...That the Nets and Magic mailed one in. Regardless its now finally here....
The best semi final basketball playoff bracket in a decade...
Raps and Hinkies
Chowders and Bucks...
The Leafs are done and the Raps will own the town for sports ... Buckle up for a long ride.Last edited by Demographic Shift; Wed Apr 24, 2019, 12:10 AM.There's no such thing as a 2nd round bust.

What a finish in Portland....
Lillard hits a three from 35 feet or more over George at the Buzzer to complete a 15 point 4th quarter comeback...They trailed by 15 with 7 minutes to go... It gets better... Portland had coughed up a 9 point lead with 3 mins to go in the thrid...
