- Speaking after his first practice as a Raptor, Kawhi Leonard said it felt great to get back on the court, was his first 5-on-5 action since January. "It felt amazing to just play, run up and down and compete."
- Kawhi Leonard on Nick Nurse: "He's open-minded, ready to adjust on the fly. Just a brilliant mind, loves the game of basketball. I've gotta talk to him more, this was just my first practice, but we're going to develop a good relationship."
- Lowry: "I'm here to be part of this great team... It's going to be fun, man. Opportunity like this, we have to take advantage of it."
- Danny Green says he feels pretty healthy coming off of that groin tear.
- "I’m excited, healthy, it’s going to be different. Nurse taking over, so it’s going to be fun to see how we play offense," said Valanciunas. "Actually we’re going to keep the same strategy, probably, but it’s going to be more fun. More freedom."
- Ibaka anticipates spending more time around the rim, said Nurse wants him to be more aggressive in the paint and on the offensive boards. "Let me tell you something for sure, my shooting % is going to be a lot better this year."
- Like last year, Nurse anticipates using a big rotation (10-12 guys). "If guys deserve to play we're going to play as many as we can."
- Couple things the Raps are doing to keep camp light: playing music during drills, holding contests. New asst Nate Bjorkgren is awarding a toy WWE championship belt to the winner of certain drills. Today's winners: Kawhi (1-on-1) and FVV.
