  • 2018-19 Trade Rumours and Discussion - Deadline February 7th 2019

With Justin Holiday getting traded to the Grizzlies we will probably see a lot of rumours begin to surface now.

    PLEASE SOURCE YOUR RUMOURS.

PLEASE DO NOT POST YOUR TRADE IDEAS unless it's based on someone actually in a sourced rumour.

    Thank you.

This was from last month but seems still fairly relevant given that Ellington has been riding the pine.

Among them, a source told Sporting News, is another former Laker — Heat guard Wayne Ellington, a 3-point specialist who would help LA’s struggles from the 3-point arc. Ellington is on a one-year deal with the Heat, and he has the right to veto a trade.

But as Miami’s season continues to look fruitless, Ellington’s name has come up more in trade talks. The Heat would be open to moving Ellington to a playoff team for a first-round pick, according to sources. He has averaged 10.0 points and is making 38.1 percent of his 3-pointers.
If we are targeting a shooter you'd be hard pressed to find a better one than Ellington. Not worth a first but Holiday cost 2 seconds.

I think Wayne Wellington might end up being just like CJ Miles in Toronto purely based on assumption/hunch
In fact CJ was a great shooter too in Indiana

don't think masai will make any moves. but if he's shopping, we desperately need an actual backup PG and some size.

I would be on the phone with Atlanta about Lin and Dedmon. Both are 30 years old and the hawks are tanking.

If we going after vets like that we gotta be careful and not trade for guys that might get waived anyways

Might as well add the sporting news tweet that Zainab posted in the game thread:

Writer proposes that Raps are needing a backup playmaker while Lowry is on the shelf.

He mentions potential trade targets Bradley Beal, Jeff Teague, JJ Barea, Devin Harris or Jeremy Lin.

All of them are an upgrade over FVV. FVV is inconsistent open shooter and isn't a great playmaker. Delon coming off the bench is great as he is still inconsistent overall, but has higher upside on both ends of the court (compare to FVV). Honestly FVV is just bad - he has one good game every 2 weeks.

Well those last 3 guys are worse players and playmakers than Wright and FVV.

Teague is an average starter who won't be happy moving to the bench when Lowry returns.

Beal is a great shooter, but not really a playmaker and would involve a massive shakeup

Lin is definitely a better playmaker than either Delon or FVV. He has an assist rate almost double that of Wright and about 25% higher than FVV, and he's notched much higher levels in the past. He's very good in the pick and roll and would probably be dynamite with JV.

That said, I don't know why we'd add a fourth point guard unless Lowry's back is pretty serious. It makes no sense when we have other more pressing needs.

Isn't jeremy Lin more of a scorerer though? Although we could really use his sharpshooting and Jeremy Lin very underrated

Joe Harris is a great pick up imo, amazing shooter. Fits right in.

                        And also Drose?

If we can somehow get Drose and Joe Harris, I'll be much more confident
