why would we try to fleece them when a generational 2 way talent in on the table? NO is not gonna ruin their franchise to spite the raptors. and we're not gonna come with a low ball offer. their gonna be so many bidders we gotta put something good in the table
It all depends how petty they are about losing AD.

    • The stick in the mud for Blazers type team making the deal, is that if AD is set on LA, Blazers have to know the teardown comes when they get stomped even with AD. The Raptors thanks to MU is ready for the teardown.

Guys, I'm typically a realistic optimist as far as my speculations pertaining anything NBA and Raptors' news. I'm just very surprised that nobody here has mentioned how badly this could backfire/sabbotage us, if NO sends AD to the clippers.

The Clippers trade package is basically the same as ours from an insiders and outsiders perspective. and it even has a 1st.
The big kicker is that if AD goes to the clips Kawhi is on the next plane outta T.O. as soon as the playoffs are over.
I doubt AD would go to a gutted shell of a clip team especially not knowing what kawhi is gonna do. We could trade and contend in a few months

dude its a trade. he doesnt have a choice, he would be stuck their until 2020. The pellys could send AD to the clips, make lebron cry and kawhi would leave in a couple months.

Yo, Dell Demps could literally hold our franchise hostage and practically demand anyone and if we protest he could threaten us with the clippers trade. His ship is sinking, he could be as petty as he wants and Lebron would cry if AD was a clipper.

And then have their team moved to seattle or las vegas because they base a franchise altering trade on pissing people off...

what are you talking about the clips trade package is arguably no better than what we have to offer...

and the NBA could put new teams in LV and Seattle and move Minny and NO to the East for all we know.

              • He said he wants to go to a contender. Im sure he could threaten to be a no show if they sent him somewhere he doesnt want to go

                • AD on clips minus anything decent they have will be worse than the pels. Why would he do that?

That's an expensive choice for him to make though. He could do the same thing to NO, but he won't because he doesn't get paid that way; and it would make him look even more like a jerk.

                    • LOL, the Pelicans aren’t going to make a trade out of spite. They will take the deal best for them - it just depends what they want out of the deal, futures or win now pieces. Raps offer is a nice middle ground. They might also have a slight out-of-conference preference considering Davis is so young and looks likely to dominate for near the next decade.

Raps have a real chance. Can’t really see how the Clips win the bidding war, personally.

                      • So maybe he’ll just say Ill stay if they want to trade him somewhere he doesnt want to go? Bottom line is why would he do all this to end up in a situation thats the same or worse?

The likelihood of being in the same situation or worse is slim. That's like 5 or 6 teams below NO, and those teams don't have the assets or the confidence to resign to enter the fray.

Davis is young and hungry. New Orleans is bleak as usual. I'm sure hed love Toronto or Portland for a couple playoff runs even if he left, just to get back relevant again.

I do not think he would appreciate the Knicks, especially if zinger went the other way. The vibe I get is that the brow is tired of having no other all star caliber players around

                          • The knicks appeal is that if the trade happens this summer they could have the 1st overall pick and max room for Durant or someone else.

The Raptors are a spicy little thought experiment. Masai Ujiri already declared his intention to go all in for the Finals this season with the Leonard blockbuster, and Toronto’s got a mix of movable salaries and interesting young pieces to at least get into the conversation. Might an offer starting with something like Jonas Valanciunas, Pascal Siakam, OG Anunoby, Delon Wright, and a future pick get the attention of a Pelicans team entering a rebuild?
