What is going on? Mirotic, Payton, Moore and AD are all not playing. Are any of these guys injured?
    They are tanking now.

Though the rest of the guys are giving max effort against the Rockets

Could there be a pending move involving the four not playing?

      • No player cares about super max cause they can make just as much taking those short contacts

There's no such thing as a 2nd round bust.

                Middleton/Brogdon/Maker/'Sova for AD works.

Would really hurt their back court depth though. And Middleton is a free agent this summer, so can walk. But that's a decent package. Former ROY and one of the better 3&D wings in the league. Maker sucks but wants out anyway. Ilyasova is cap ballast.

                Serge/Siakam/OG probably doesn't beat that.
Sure it does. It beats it easily.

Not only is Middleton a free agent this summer, so is Brogdon. So the two best players in this proposed deal, you get for... about two and a half months. Then you get a mediocre big and an average veteran. Maybe Milwaukee can add some first-round picks, which will be mediocre as well. Maybe they can add Eric Bledsoe, except whoops he's a free agent this summer too.

Milwaukee always planned to maximize as much cap space as possible this coming summer and now they don't have good longterm assets to make a serious bid for Davis. Compare their shitty bid to:

                1. another year of Ibaka, who can be flipped for more picks and prospects
                2. Siakam, who will be an RFA summer after next so you can lock him down for four years
                3. OG, who's still got three years on his rookie deal
                4. Delon, who's an RFA
                5. Norm, who's got two years left on an increasingly reasonable-looking deal
                6. Fred, two years left on a good deal

The Raptors' assets are far superior to anything Milwaukee can offer. Really, our only serious competition for AD is Denver, and the possibility that the Pellies wait until the summer for the godfather offer from Boston.

                • It's interesting how nobody is calling the Leafs' deal for Jake Muzzin "a rental". His contract is exactly the same as Anthony Davis.

In fact, the whole story around the Muzzin deal (besides him being really good) is how it's great that they managed to get a guy who is NOT a rental, locked in for two playoff runs.

And ironically, the Celtics may end up having Kyrie play in only 1 playoff run, in a deal that was originally lauded as a heist.

Their front line is decimated. If he gets PT when they get back, then you can make a judgement. For now I think it's a "somebody has to get the stats" situation. Of course he has the potential to turn his career around and maybe this is the start, but you need a bigger sample size and normal circumstances to make me a believer.

Okay, let's put it this way: Monroe or Okafor?

Okafor easy... Monroe is next to useless for 28.

I agree. There should be a tax on the team that gets him and his salary should be reduced - or something. I think a lot of this player gets what he wants stuff started when Steve Francis refused to sign with the vancouver grizzlies when they drafted him
TBH, European football figured out the whole professional sports food chain a long time ago:

                                1. You charge exorbitant transfer fees when talented players you developed want to move (i.e. a tax, like you're saying)
                                2. You develop your own players in your own pro system so you can get rid of the sham/scam/blight on pro sports that is the NCAA
                                3. Small market teams with cheap-ass owners and poor management get relegated to lower divisions, but they can get promoted back up if they get their act together.
