  • Good luck in LA, Marc and Serge. Will be odd seeing them fight it out for the West for next year at least. If the Clippers can get it together that is.

        • Gonna be pissed when Lakers fans shit all over Gasol this season. It's coming and it'll be bad. The vitriol vs Danny Green was gross.

LAL's defence will be unreal if Gasol stays healthy.

Gasol's usefulness on defense is highly matchup dependent, though. If they have to face a quick, crafty guard like Kemba who is hunting switches, then Gasol is gonna get played right off the floor again.

It's a shame. They'll have to make due by sliding Anthony Davis to the 5.

Yeah, just like in the Raptors' series against Boston where the Celtics had an ORTG of 107.2 when Kemba was on the floor against Gasol and that plummeted to an ORTG of 109.2 when Gasol sat. Played him right off the floor...

The offence was the problem, even in the Boston series. Not the defence.

When the moment of truth came in game 6, Nurse pulled Gasol and went small with Powell to save the season. So yes, Gasol was played off the floor. Everybody knew he was a liability at that point.... except you. Then Nurse foolishly went back to the well with Gasol in game 7 and he crapped the bed. Even Casey knew when he had no choice but to bench his ‘son’ DeMar for the greater good.

And speaking of offense. Playing 4 on 5 with Gasol didn’t help us, especially when we don’t have a shot creator like Trey Burke.

Right right but like didn't we need Gasol if we were gonna get by the Heat? I figure it was like Nurse was like, we need MG, or it doesn't matter anyway bcz like who's gonna shut down Bam?

                    U kno?

Nurse pulled Ibaka too to go small with Powell. That was a style choice, not a "Marc Gasol specifically cannot play C in this series" choice. And they barely played even with Boston for that stretch (and fell short in game 7 with the same look at the end).

We've been over game 7 again and again. If you think they lost that game specifically because of Gasol I don't think you were watching the second half. You know, when it was tied, Gasol won his minutes, then sat the rest of the game while Ibaka lineups lost the series. The first half was a disaster that the bench saved, true, but Stevens smartened up in the second half, stopped letting the Raptors off the hook with so many bench players on the floor, and crushed the non-Gasol options in the 2nd half.

Wow. Just wow. In what parallel cherry picking universe did Gasol "win his minutes" in Game 7? Breaking: an NBA game is at least 48 minutes long.

Gasol was minus freaking 19 in only 19 minutes. Gasol delivered a complete and utter train wreck of a performance in Game 7. Nobody else on the team is even remotely close to that putrid display. Hey... and guess who was co-leader of the team, in terms of +/-? Yep, MaFuzzy Chef.

Look, I know you have a hard time dealing with being wrong, but resorting to flat out lying and deception is beneath you. You may not realize it, but box scores from NBA games are still available on the internet, so people can fact-check you. That Gasol "winning his minutes" in Game 7 argument was pathetic and approaching boldface Trumpian levels.

                        • He did say when it was tied in the second half, he had won his minutes.

And according to the plus/minus tracker for that game, he was a +1 in the second half:

                          • You guys are fun. Who do you think is worse, JV or Trey Burke. Neither would get minutes over FVV or Ibaka right?

What? Did you just decide not to read anything I wrote except what you bolded? The Gasol lineups got caved in in the first half, but not just because of Gasol. The whole starting lineup was awful in the first half. Similarly, the Ibaka lineups in the first half crushed the Boston bench (finally, for the first time all series). Going into the second half, of course you argument would be you should bench Gasol and play Ibaka. Well, Nurse did not, he opened with Gasol, they won those second half minutes (barely...). And then, and here's the crazy part, Boston decided they weren't going to trot out their terrible bench in the 2nd half of game 7, and what a surprise, those Ibaka lineups got caved in themselves when they had to face the sort of competition the Gasol lineups were facing all series long.
