Raptorsss wrote: View PostWhen did kleiza blame his busted knees and ankles for his sub-par game? We all saw how he got injured in the preseason game against, Phoenix. He's a starting SF and a great back-up in this league, when healthy. This guy could easily go on a 20-10 run any game, his shooting was poor and he wasn't as explosive as he has been in the past.
He'll be fine, and he's actually a good one on one post defender.
What I'm worried about is Wright, why can't he be a defensive specialist for this team in the future? If the Raptors can get him back cheap I'd go for it. He has one of the best SF bodies, is a great passer with a high b-ball IQ, who's quick and hustles. Just don't ask him to try and hit open jumpers.

Kleiza is a good back up SF in this league but he ain't no starter, as soon as he tried doing too much that's when he became less effective.

I like him because he adds depth of the bench, the can hit the three, and score in a multitude of ways. I would rather see someone with more of a defensive presence start, because that is what the team needs more, but I think Kleiza is a very skilled player and can be very useful. Who knows whether we draft a SF because what this post is basically showing everyone is that with JJ, and Kleiza, perhaps that isnt the position that needs to be addressed the most. We will have to wait and see, but my instinct tells me that BC will pick the best player available at the time, not the best player at a specific position, time will tell.

When he comes back he'll most likely be coming off the bench, at least till he gets his game legs back.

Kleiza needs to get healthy before any of this matters. Many guys do not make it back from this surgery/injury.
Personally, I want him to come back healthy for his own sake. The money is set for him. Most great professionals who care about their work - when the issue of money is not a factor, like in this situation - want to do their best and work to the best of their potential/ability. I dont' think Kleiza has had that opportunity in DEN (behind Melo) and in TOR (injury). I'd like to see what he is capable in the NBA before talking trade, starter, or bench - but that is just me.

Kleiza is, at best, a rotation guy like he was in Denver. That's it. After this injury, he may not even be that. I'd love to see him come back healthy and productive but that is being way too optimistic at this point.
