  • That's just it though. Is there a player pegged to go in the top 6 to 10 range that you don't think is better than of the payers on the Raptors with respect to position?

Lillard over Jose, Waiters over DeRozan

I think Drummond would be an upgrade over Amir at Centre or PF. And though Bargnani is a skilled player, I don't like his skill set at that position (personally).

Henson might be equal to Ed Davis, but Ed's got a couple of years on him so in time we'll see. And Sullinger is more skilled in the low post than anyone currently on our roster.

I'm happy with whomever lands on our lap tonight including Drummond because imo it's going to be an upgrade.

I think the key to the Raptors getting a solid pick is some team before them has to be dumb enough to pick Drummond. I'm looking at you Sac and G-State. If that happens, either Waiters or Lillard should fall to the Raptors.
+1. I think the whole lottery actually hinges on where Drummond goes -- Sacramento really being the linchpin.

        Sucks to be PJ3.

It's weird to think about the amount of money that a report like this can actually cost someone. Dropping 10 spots in the draft is a several million dollar loss over a few years.

It won't likely be G State:

Isn't Waiters projected to be a SG in the NBA?
lol actually I thought AlienOverlord was saying that Barnes was overhyped instead of Waiter, so my fault

Nice find. When I read that article I immediately rule out Drummond and start thinking MKG/Waiters for GS. Unfortunately, I could also see Barnes fitting the description of the type of player they are looking for.

I really am starting to think that if Sacramento doesn't draft Drummond at #5, he will likely slip all the way to the Pistons at #9.

I think the worst-case scenario for Toronto would be if Davis, Robinson, Beal, MKG, Barnes, Lillard and Waiters winds up being the top-7 picks, leaving Drummond for Toronto, in addition to second tier players (ie: Rivers, Lamb). I would expect them to do a 'draft & trade' involving Drummond at that point, with them moving down a few spots and acquiring an additional asset in the process.

                    • From Hollinger's chat on ESPN:

                      1) DRUMMOND

                      Bram (Netherlands)
How far can you see Andre Drummond fall? In some scenario's people are already discussing him falling to the Pistons.

                      John Hollinger
(1:37 PM) I'd say that's the absolute floor, and that if he really falls that far somebody will likely trade up to 6-7-8 to snatch him.

                      2) TORONTO & LOWRY

                      Steven (Toronto)
Should the Raps make a move for Lowry?? Even if Waiters is on the board?

                      John Hollinger
(1:41 PM) most people see Waiters as more of a 2. The more interesting part of a Lowry pursuit is that I think the Raptors have another point guard in mind, one that hails from their own country.

                      3) WAITERS

                      jerry (auburn, ny)
if dion waiters turns out to be monta ellis 2.0, is he worth a top 7 pick?

                      John Hollinger
(1:50 PM) No, but I think he's a better player than Ellis -- had a really strong Pure Point Rating in college, for instance, and he's bigger and more powerful, and under Boeheim he probably at least learned something about defense.

                      • Overall, the draft seems to be shaping up better than it looked several weeks ago for the Raptors. This is mainly due to the rise of Waiter and Lillard, which deepens the upper end pool to #8. Drummond might be the least interesting to many Raptors' fans and the Raptors' high command, but he is a legit upper end prospect. So, he could either be a good trade chip for moving down in the draft. On the other hand, someone higher in the Lottery might not mind moving back to #8 as much if they like Drummond (Portland? Sac?).

I'm of the opinion that the Raptors should really target moving up to get MKG, if they want to make a real splash. You can build a really good team for a long time around players with the attributes of JV and MKG as the core. Great desire, good size, winners... Casey would love coaching a team built around two guys like that.

Told Blazers are eyeing Damian Lillard and Dion Waiters at No. 6, with hard lean toward Lillard. Afraid Raptors will take him at 8.

I can only imagine the conversation an owner will have with their GM in two-three years if Dion Waiters ends up being a bust...
