  • “We’re trying to get those kinds of players. We’re trying to develop Bruno [Caboclo] to be a defender, a three-point shooter and athletic and look how long it’s going to take to get him to be half of what Terrence is?”

It would be fantastic if NBA teams could "loan" players like you can in soccer. Since we don't have a D-League team, we'd either pay or be payed for the services of some of our players.

Find a way to credit teams for loaning or accepting loaned players to encourage loans and open up cap relief for teams at or above the luxury tax.

That way the raps could loan Bebe and Bruno and have them get real game experience on a shit team. Or a shit team like the Knicks could loan Melo to a team to make a playoff run.

THAT would make for a crazy ass kick ass league.

Probably not the right thread but woah.
No way, that would be too fucking crazy. All the stars on bad teams would go to contenders, and all the good players would play in the playoffs.

            Wait....that is good idea!

Fortunately or unfortunately it might not take that long.
If we knew half as much about coaching an NBA team as we think, we"d know twice as much as we do.

Not sure if I like that idea, but soccer does have some interesting ideas that North American sports should think about but probably will never adopt:

                1) Eliminating tanking through relegation
                2) Developing players through you're own feeder system
                3) Transfer fees so you get compensated for your player development investment, if the player leaves
                4) No age limit, if you're good enough to earn a living as a pro

Masai is the exact opposite of BC.

If this was BC he would have sold T Ross and Bruno as the second comming of MJ and Pippen. raising the fan expectations at a staggering level.
Masai is shattering all the expectations about these guys so even if they improve a lil in the future the fans will get excited.

Except the first half of Masai's quote is:
“How many guys on our team can raise up and make a shot with someone in their face, like Terrence? They aren’t many in the league,” said Ujiri. “He’s had lapses on defence but that’s something you grow out of with experience. He is really a two-way player; he has ability to stay in front of guys, he can hit a shot; he’s athletic as hell and he can hit threes. Every team is looking for players like that."
As for BC, he drafted TRoss and was very circumspect about TRoss's potential. He basically said the same things on draft night:
                      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z5LVLU14rbM

Doesn't matter. Bruno probably IS another year away from getting regular rotation minutes, which means he really was two years from being two years away.

SF don't take 4 years to develop. Either he can hit threes/defend or he can't.

How would you know how long it takes someone to develop?

                          Players develop at different rates

Nonono, these guys don't work hard, they were born making threes.

The small forward position and power forward take the least time. Players are either physically capable of playing the position or they aren't. Bruno just needs to add weight.

4 years is a long time to learn to shoot. PJ tucker took a while but either players can or can't shoot.
