Last season when we implemented the horns offense, Nick Nurse was credited with creating the new offensive sets. When we run horns, our offense is pretty damn good. Unfortunately, we only run it 1 or 2 plays a game now, and resort to motion iso the rest of the time. If you aren't sure what horns offense is, here is a link that does a great job explaining it.

    http://www.coachesclipboard.net/HornsOffense.html

Now, use this knowledge while watching games. When Lowry/Lou/DD/GV come down the court and don't pass or use any of the screens, that's not a Nick Nurse offensive set, that's Casey's "do whatever you want guys" offense. When we use horns, we almost always get a high percentage shot and an easy bucket. It's mind boggling that we stopped using it, but Casey is clearly comfortable with not using it from his post game comments, e.g. "those are our shots and they just gotta keep shooting them until they fall".
first of all i know what horns is. secondly, the only time i've noticed the team running less horns was when derozan was injured. other than that, 1 or 2 plays a game??? that doesn't sound accurate whatsoever. we still run horns pretty frequently. its just that none of our guys seem to actually be able to create anything from it anymore, especially derozan. his stats offensively are something like this:

Play Type | Percentage of plays | ORTG
    Isolation | 14% | 78
    PnR Ball Handler | 21% | 72
    Post up | 11% | 90
    Hand off | 6% | 78
    Off screen | 15% | 76

this is kind of hilarious when you consider his iso is actually his highest offensive rating, outside of postups. hand offs and off screens are obviously a big part of horns, and it seems like the team just can't get anything out of it anymore. so its absolutely bullshit that 'when we run horns, our offense is pretty damn good'

in other words, blaming casey for the lack of horns also sounds like bullshit.

From what I've seen the Raptors are running plays, but the way that the possession ends usually negates the play being run.

For example, they'll run that little two man game between Amir and DD, and sometimes DD will get a nice handoff from Amir only to take a contested jumper.

They'll run some pindown screens for Lou to get open, but if it fails to get him an uncontested shot, he ends up going into isolation.

Also I'll see some of our bigs try and set a screen for a guard, only for the guard to ignore the screen, drive, and throw up an out-of-control shot.

A lot of our plays also end in post up situations for DD, Lowry, JV, or JJ, so that also counts as a play that ends in isolation.

Thats not a play its a handoff to initiate the ISO. Guys don't move once one of the guards start ISO. That is by design. Even Fields was nailed to the corner for "spacing" while his defender packed the paint

I guess so. But the point I'm trying to make is that even when the team attempts to run some action to get movement in the offense, it usually ends up going stagnant anyways.

Some Demar stats about his scoring from different parts of the court proves your point? It has no bearing on whether the team is running horns or not. The only stat that really has any relation to horns is iso, because when we go iso we are not running horns.

I know Casey isn't running horns the majority of the time by watching the game. That's the only way to tell. Also, contested shots before the shot clock is up are not part of horns. If you're contested you're supposed to use one of the many passing options you have due to all the movement off screens. The players should basically be either setting a pick, wide open, or moving. How often do you see that happening during the game? Not very often. When we do, it usually results in one of the bigs getting a easy bucket.

He had 4 shots and still scored 16. Mind blown.

                      I dunno man

Getting it down to a single reason is a pretty difficult task
