    I think its a move away from ISO to motion offenses. Alot of older coaches are going to disappear.

    IMHO too many teams are copying the Spurs like the Hawks, GSW and Toronto should go big. A pounding interior team with size and length at the 2-3 and a stretch 4 that can also go inside like a Horford. Inside-out, design a team to punish the smaller perimeter passing teams, a Hawks-killer
    We're one legit PF away from being a poor man's Memphis. I'd love to see the team try and go down that path.

      Where are the very good to elite perimeter defenders on the Raptors?

      Raptors might have 2 legit bigs but they are a looooooong ways away from Memphis.

        Zach Lowe discussing Scott Brooks' dismissal:

        If only Casey had any of these qualities...

        http://grantland.com/the-triangle/sc...-scott-brooks/
        Lowe actually names quite a few highly regarded assistant coaches in that piece. I would like to know more about some of them.

        I'm also getting the feeling from some readings and radio spots I've heard that Casey won't be fired. Just a personal feeling i'm getting, but I could see Masai making some changes and seeing if Casey does any better. If it isn't going well halfway though next year he makes the change then.

        That being said: I want Casey gone. Like yesterday. I remember reading a Lowe piece (can't remember when, March maybe?) basically stating that most NBA coaches have Casey's system figured out and find it easy to manipulate. Which we can all pretty much see. All it takes is a simple action to get a rotation out of the Raps, then its easy pickings with a drive or swing of the ball. So brutal.

          The thing is, it only takes a player thinking about pump faking to get Ross or JV to jump in the air. Lowry and JJ are gamblers and not disciplined when it comes to defense. A system can only work if everyone buys in. One breakdown and you get exposed. It's a shit show for sure, but it's not like you can just fix all the problems by firing the coach.

            There's also more to it than Casey Sucks! Look, the defense last year was a top 10 defense running the same system. It's not like the system was new or anything, various teams around the league have been running it for years. It wasn't as though every team only figured out how to exploit it in December 2014. Again, I've said this before, theoretically, the Raps should be able to run Casey's scheme effectively given the personnel. But some combination of: Amir's drop-off, the Lowry injury woes, Derozan's injury, Ross crapping the bed, Casey's unwillingness or inability to adapt; have combined to effectively destroyed the defense.

            People want simple answers and someone specific to blame. That's fine. But it's always more complicated than that.

              The bold really is the answer and yes it is simple.

              He couldn't handle a fluid situation.

              Shit happens as you listed but he didn't adapt.

              He is the very definition of insanity and it is why he should be fired.

                I said poor man's version

                JV = Gasol
                Lowry = Conley
                James Johnson = Tony Allen
                DD = Courtney Lee

                We just need the PF since the East is a poor man's version of the West.

                  I think you need a stronger word than poor or the PF needs to be beyond elite on D.

                  Raps are a bottom 5 on D while Grizz are top 3.

                    Jv=Gasol is a little bit of a stretch.

                          That's not the real definition of insanity. And there's more things wrong with this team than Casey. There's no way to adapt to suddenly getting stuck with a much worse selection of players than you previously had. And yes he probably should be fired.
                          That is a normal collar. Move on, find a new slant.

                            What?

                            Casey had an improved roster from '13-'14 to '14-'15.

                            He didn't know what to do with it except play more ISO.

                                But he always found new ways to pound it.
