I think Casey will have a good year. Masai has brought in his type of players to fit his system. Wouldn't be surprised if raps are back in the top 10 in both D and O
Nobody brought in is Caseys type of player. Defensively he over helps meaning DC and CoJo man D isn't optimal and offensively nobody can create their own offense except Scola to a degree. Casey's type of players would be NBA All-defense - long and able to guard every position and then he would manage to be in the middle defensively. Offensively it would be selfish guys who don't need practice or plays like Iverson, Melo or Kobe. Hopefully the offensively player can play defense because otherwise that middle or the pack D drops a tier

      • Fans get irrationally happy when the season gets close

Seem to forget that we have 200+ games of his shitty coaching and think that just a couple new players will change that

Guy is garbage that is just sitting on the curb waiting to get picked up

        • He is a terrible coach, probably bottom 3 in the league.
Nothing more to see. Just waiting for December for him to get canned.

          • One of the dumbest statement which people keep regurgitating on this site without thinking it through.
" Masai has brought in his type of players to fit his system".

Really? Then why are they CHANGING THE FKN SYSTEM next year.
Raps lost 1 Plus defender (Amir) and Gain another one (CArrol), so when exactly did we become the Milwaukee Bucks ?

By the way, that same "system" also produced a top 10 defense with the same players, so please, enough of that BS. MU is simply addressing his own little mistakes, it has nothing to do with Casey.

Thats the fake ring. Casey gave the real one to his wife when he got married so she'll remember who's the champ.
Feeling insecure DC? You should be ....

It wouldn't surprise me if they did climb the rankings on D this season, but my concern is do they have the talent to get past the first round? They still don't have a player that I view as guy that can "put the team on his back", which in the playoffs becomes really important.

With a top 10 defense will sure have a chance too.

It's Casey's 5th year with the team.. and for some reason he seems to exceed every odd year.

Year 1 - got Bargnani his 13 game shining moment.
Year 3 - got Raptors to a top 10 offense and defense and his contract extended.

Wonder how he'll perform in Year 5 (another contract year).
                        See, I viewed this differently.

Each of the years he "performed well" coincided when he had the least amount of time with the roster. Year 1, he came on part way through the year and the team didn't have a lot of time to adopt his systems. Year 3, Rudy trade. Incoming Sacramento players didn't have a lot of time to learn the new system and the current players were essentially playing without one as well considering how large of a role Rudy had in the offense.

The conclusion I came up with was that the less time that the team had for Casey to influence them, the better they performed. The exception being the beginning of last season but that seemed to directly correlate with Lowry since when he started to go down, the team fell off, rather than anything Casey did.

That does seem to be the trend.

Beginning of 2015 was when Lou, 2Pats and almost everyone else were shooting out of their minds on pull ups. The defense was terrible from Game 1 with open shooters everywhere gradually degenerating to blow-by layups and dunks. Casey did nothing from training camp onwards except practice defense and let players run the offense.

How many teams play better when their best player goes down? That has nothing to do with Casey's coaching ability.

The only trend I see is every the win totals going up.

                              • The terrible scrambling D, lack of player and ball movement started before the injuries to Demar and Lowry.
