      Potential replacement: Patrick Ewing?

I'm tired of the Raptors organization being a yes-player team and want a head coach that will give it to our players straight. No BS.

      Thoughts?
      No thanks.

I want a basketball mind. Someone who, just once, knows the Xs and Os of the game. I'm sick of guys who are only motivators or disciplinarians; people skills are important but so is strategy.

        Casey isn't any of those.

A quick thought. We are on a tough stretch of games. It is possible we could lose 7 in a row. Yes I know Laker game SHOULD be a win but we lost at LAL to scrubs and LAL have played well last two games. At that point we could be 7-10 ....

              At SAC L
              At GS L
At Utah. --Utah well rested we are on a back to back
At LAL Kobe goes for 40
At LAC. Blake Griffen goes do 36
              vs CLE. Over matched
At Wash Beal and Wall >Lowry and DD

I would have to believe the pressure on MU would be tremendous to fire DD. It certainly would seem we are just seeing a continuation of the last 3-1/2 months of last season.
We are actually 4.5 underdogs tonight at Urah. If we lose tonight and Friday things could get ugly fast. This may not be necessarily be a bad thing if it were to lead to DC getting fired.

Arguably, they had a basketball mind with Triano.

We didn't draft Steimsma, he was a vet min to fill out the last spot on the bench. Wright and Powell play different positions. We're very deep at PG so Wright doesn't play. Ross is hurt so Powell plays some, it's not rocket science.
We let whiteside go in favor of steisma.

I dont think anyone though greg had more value then and going forward than steisma

                  • Kevin Mchale was fired 11 games into his new contract extension, which is worth in excess of $12 million. More evidence that money shouldn't be an excuse when it comes to changes in leadership. It's too important.

                    • hopefully mchale's firing will make it more acceptable to fire casey. McHale was fired because he lost the ability to motivate the team. That was the final straw, given he already sucked at in-game coaching.

                      Sound familiar?

We couldn't "let Whiteside go" because he was never ours. Summer League players are not our players, any team can sign them at any time. Whiteside didn't show enough in summer league to get a deal from us or any other team for that matter. He wasn't signed until November 24th by the Heat (a full week further into the regular season than we are right now) and he was sent to the DLeague by the Heat. He didn't get meaningful minutes until the end of December. You're doing some straight up hindsight 20/20 horseshit. No one knew Whiteside would end up being a serviceable bench body, let alone the awesome NBA player he has become. Reilly won the fucking lottery on that one, and you shouldn't be shit talking for Masai for not buying a winning lottery ticket.

Raptors needed a backup C had a roster spot and had Whiteside in camp. Instead they gave Steimsa the min to never play before camp was finished.

They're also owned by a Billionaire, which I pointed out repeatedly is what you need to be able to fire you coach without worrying about the cost. Not to mention they have a championship caliber roster right now and were just in the WCF last season. We have nowhere near the talent Houston does, nowhere near the recent success, and we don't have a Billionaire owner who doesn't have to answer to shareholders. Leslie Alexander has had the Rockets as a play thing since 1993, he could give a fuck about $12M over 3 years. Bell-Rogers is not the same situation, not even close.

With that said, we don't owe Casey any money beyond this season, and it costs nothing extra to promote one of the assistants to replace him for the rest of the season, so we should go ahead and do that.

No one in the entire fucking league wanted Whiteside. No one. He didn't get signed until over a week further into the regular season than we are now.

                                spare me your melodrama bullshit.

There were alot of people at the time that felt he should be signed as no one...I mean no one. thought that Greg was worth anything.

Whiteside had for years shown massive potential...never realized...but shown it.

with the raps in that summer league he swatted 2 shots in each of the last 2 games he played, averaged 10 rebounds over 3 games he played(which led the team and was a most needed skill on the bigteam) and shot over 50% from the floor.

I thought Whiteside performed well and was worth an extended look on the end of the bench for a year to see what happened as opposed to paying Greg fucking Steisma to wave a towel.
