So, a team without two starters shots .578% from the field against the best defences in the last couple years and there's nothing to take away from that? Really, man c'mon. You have to give credit where it's due. Raps straight up just beat Spurs.
No one is taking away that the raps beat them.

    No one.

They won. Period. End of story

Discussion is that sas turned ball over like mad. And guys like demar shot a ridiculous percentage on the game

If one of those 2 things didnt happen.....we would have lost

      To which I'd add....

      OK what about the losses?

Denver, Phoenix, Utah, Sacramento, NY, Miami, Orlando

Those were all shitty losses that should also be attributed to the coach?

Now, I really don't care to be honest but for once I'd like to see some consistency from one side of the coin to the other.

Big picture: Casey has shown he can win in the regular season over the last 2+ seasons. Now what?
Also add, by playing a small group unsustainable minutes. In the playoffs team step up while Casey runs the team at full throttle in December to win. There is no next level

Sadly, the bolded assertion is what's being argued. Nothing more.

Some want to emphasize San Antonio's poor play as the "real" reason for the win ... and so insist Raptors fan ought not to be lifted by the win, or draw any positive conclusions from our play. Even though it comes as another of a string of impressive performances against all the league's top teams.
That is bad generalization/misinterpretation of posts

No one attributes the win exclusively to sas bad play/turnovers. No one.

I mean, last year at this point in the season we had a much better record including some quality wins, and we fell apart down the stretch because Lowry got worn out. This year we have a good record with some quality wins, and Lowry is playing more minutes with a higher usage rate. I wonder if making him do more early in the season will make him better rested at the end of the year?
Last most of those wins came at home. This year we had league high road games to start out the season with 4 new rotational players. Also add in there that were missing two starters!

Except this team is way better defensively than those teams and has way more playoffs experience than those teams as well.
            We will see

It wasnt just defense that lost in the playoffs.

And there was lots of playoff experience last season as well.

The counter point is that we've seen this all before. This is nothing new. Over the past 3 seasons, there have been many times where the Raps beat real quality teams, and it ends up meaning nothing come April.

Same coach, same core, same mistakes, same reluctance to adapt.
A lot of the comments I'm reading sound a LOT like the comments I saw last year. And I think everyone remembers how well that went.

Who had a lot of playoffs experience? Hayes? This we have champion(Cojo), Eastern Conference finalist(Carroll and Scola) and than we have our core making their third straight trip to the playoffs. All the new players are big time rotational players.

                • Might be the same core but, this team a lot different than last years.

Which will make Casey failure even more egregious. Both have looked awful or put into odd situations destined to fail(Scola)

This could have also been said of last year.

Last year team felt that they could just out score teams. This team knows it has to be done on the defensive end first.

This years team look like they'll struggle to score against a set defense and doesn't have the three point shooting to fall back on.

What are talking about the only playing bad is Carroll cause his been fighting injuries all season. Both Cojo and Scola having really good years

                              Scola

                              9.9 PPG, 5.8 RPG, 466. FG, .424 3FG, .800 FT PER 15.12

                              Cojo

                              9.7 PPG, 3.0 ASG, 2.5 RPG, .497 FG, PER 15.56

EDIT: This is something that just came to me. There is pretty mcuh literally nothing the Raptors could do during the season based on your logic that would demonstrate improvement right?

Like for you, we won't know if the team is better at all untill the playoffs? I'm really asking this question, not just making a point.
If there are no changes to the head coach (which I don't expect) or significant changes to the roster, your assumption is correct. I'm 100% in the wait-and-see camp.

Now obviously, I can't say with certainty that we're going to lose in the 1st round again. But the skeptic in me says that I haven't seen anything in the first 20+ games to genuinely believe anything has changed since last year.
