Casey must be quite proud that his dedicated-to-firing thread is active and thriving (35 pages and counting) on RR.

    "that motherfuckin blograg" he hisses.
Every single thing mentioned against the coaching of Dwayne Casey in this thread is irrefutably the truth.
Everything except for me calling him out on racism in the first page. That was only because I woke up with a huge hangover from the game the night before, ecstatic to see a thread bashing DC.

Those are words of incredible certainty!

In anycase, I am of the opinion that DC has probably reached his ceiling with this team and org. and my post was a kind of tongue-in-cheek one.

There is another coach who is getting similar treatment these days as well. Here is a link to a post detailing some (a few similarities) their angst....

Never understood why a coach being likable influences whether they should be coaching. If Casey wants to continue coaching he needs to let Nurse run the offense and let Bayno run the defense with another assistant handling sub's and time outs. Essentially coaching. He can handle the media.

Casey should be just like us. Coach from his living room sofa.
If we knew half as much about coaching an NBA team as we think, we"d know twice as much as we do.

He has nice suits. Nurse is too ginger and Bayno looks like a guy with a drinking problem, no offense. Sterner is just too WWE.

Maybe he'd see things better from that angle...

Keeping him is throwing out the season. Talent wise the Raptor will finish fourth regardless of Division. His coaching is sucking the confidence out of the players. Even if they play balls to the wall his defense is crap encouraging guys to be out of position and there is no offensive strategy. Every passing game there are flaws that will need to be fixed and the longer it goes on the worse it gets.
I agree with every word you said

If Masai thinks there are no problems at the coaching level. We're doomed .
Masai must know by know that he made a mistake resigning Casey. He's a smart guy who watches every game. I'm just worried that he might not have the heart to fire him after he just extended him. I hope I'm wrong. Maybe he'll do it in the offseason.

Casey needs to go right now. I love this team but I can't watch them shoot 6 for 35 from 3 game after game anymore. Then hearing Casey defend them saying "they're good looks, they'll start falling". Three's are never a good shot unless your Kyle Korver. We need a coach who can run an actual play and is willing to get the ball inside.

Come on Masai, do the right thing!

the team is deep, there shouldnt be nights where they just dont have it
guys have gone into slumps because they dont see the ball in good positions to score

you cant expect anybody to just get it going again when the shots they have to take are always contested

and when 2/5 guys in the starting lineups night is decided within the first few minutes of the game(ross,jv) youre never going to have any consistency
forcing them the ball early to see if they can get theirs, to then freeze them out if they dont make those shots is a terrible way to play the game, and a terrible way to develop young players

half the game this team actually plays looking to avoid double teams with lou isos and derozan in the high post, instead of getting the ball in position where the other team is forced to double, creating open shots for others
teams have them figured out now and trap them on their own, instead of being forced to
                      Exactly

The players are slumping....you don't fire a head coach because players are missing shots. Very short sighted! 26-13 says Casey is not incompetent (unless you believe we have championship talent on this roster).

Most people would agree that were probably a starting SF and PF away at the moment. Why not wait until we get these pieces....then see what Casey can do with it? If it doesn't work out....then sure, let him walk or even fire him.

I'd imagine a really good player would not want all time career low stats just because we have amazing fans in toronto.

A good coach that teaches team basketball on offence will help bring in talent.

Do the right thing Masai !

Three point shooting is about confidence. Shooting even if it isn't dropping. Just chucking threes is bad but a play designed to get a player open is never a bad shot. Problem with Casey is he stops the team from getting opportunities to shoot resulting in terrible shots. Guys willing to shoot isn't helped by a coach that doesn't trust them to create shots. It's also the coaches job to reign in shooting if it makes no sense strategically. Pop doesn't go ISO because the team isn't shoot well and he doesn't shoot when the other team is conceding the interior.
