Still magic. You don't pass magic johnson with 2 seasons.

Apart from being a perennial all star at PG did he not at least once play all positions in the game? And this would be when big men kind of still ruled the game.

This has come up in re to comparison with Jordan for best player ever. Stephen Curry is phenomenal but he is going to have repeat these feats for at least another 5-6 years to get into the conversation seriously imo.

Lebron must be getting heartburn with all this conversation about Curry. No pun intended!

Exactly. It's only fair to compare at the same age.

        At this point curry has:
        -1 title,
-we'll say 2 mvp cause he's getting it,
        -3 time nba all star
        -1 all nba first team
        -1 all nba 2nd team
And yes, arguably the best single season of all time.

But at the same point of his career, magic had:
        -3 nba championships,
        -2 finals mvp,
        -6 time nba all star,
-4 time all nba first team,
        -all nba second team

As you can see magic has quite the head start on success. And here's where it get even trickier. After age 27, magic still did:

        -2 more nba championships
        -another finals mvp
        -3 nba mvps
        -6 more all star games
-5 more all nba first team

And please never forget, after all these stunning numbers, he was forced to retire at 31 years old at the absolute top of his game with hiv.

Magic johnson had a whole hall of fame career before the age steph got really good. Then after 27 in 4 years he had another hall of fame career. Who's to know how many titles and mvps he would have had with another 5 to 7 healthy good years. Steph will never touch magics career accolades and longevity. The only thing he could do as said above his have (oh, ho hum) another 5 years of record breaking lapping the field success. He could do it. Tough, but possible.

But as of now where we sit on April 14 2016? Its still magic, and it ain't close yet.

The sad aspect about the hiv thing is that in retrospect he may have been somewhat "forced" to retire. People (more importantly players) were still at the stage being terrified (including the league honchos) ...that shaking hands or swapping sweat transmitted the disease. This is not to blame anyone...but it is still unfortunate because he may have still been able to play if his condition or treatments/understanding had occurred a couple of years later. But it is what it is. Off the court he is also a phenomenal person and quite successful too...not that that matters for the discussion.
