Goodbye Sullinger, we hardly knew you. He must have one of the worst win percentages in Raptors history for games he appeared in, we were like 1-9 when he played or something ridiculous.
He was the easiest member of the 2016/17 Dance Pak to spot from the nosebleeds.

    • I wonder how long before he gets picked up?

Poeltl will have plenty of time to shine - he'll likely have a full time backup role next year. If we're going to move BeBe for value (either at the deadline or at the draft/in the summer), he should be playing up until that point. It's not like he's hurt us - he's been a solid enough backup.
I dunno, Bebe's trending down recently. I think he'll get exposed as the intensity picks up. I'd give yak first look, he'll struggle at times and bebe will come in a look like he has upside.
Casey is next man up but it should be best man up imo.

"Trending down" = playing without Pat. That won't be the case moving forward.

He's sulking and making stupid offensive fouls. He visibly hit a wall. playing out of position, fatigue and lacking focus. Maybe he just needs rest? Big spike in mins on a competitive team and he's shouldered more responsibility than expected or capable.

Hes skinny. He's limited. He looked like a stats darling to start. Id rather hide him and maintain that image. He's a niche throw in with Cory or dmc. Not getting much value.

Yaks gonna be better on our team but he needs to grow up quick. I say throw him in the fire, he'll be better for it. His body has been saved up this yr bc he didn't play 905.
Yak or bebe 12mins/Ibaka 12/JV 24. Give or take 4-6mins
Yak will have off days and some match ups will favor bebe. Ultimately, yak is better so he should play.

The most damage we could do to his trade value would be to bench him. He'll look much better in limited minutes beside Pat in a more stable rotation and will make fewer of those errors you allude to because he'll have that safety net and won't be asked to do as much.

                • Damn that's cold.

If I was him I'd go start on the Nets and try to get some burn as a starter there for the rest of the season hopefully get to stat pad and get another 1yr contract to come back as a starter and then re-earn a larger contract if possible.

I think his value would hold. If he plays a lot vs the big boys in the playoffs, I think his lack of toughness, frailty and immaturity will be exposed on a bigger stage.
He looks better on paper. Like 3.5blks (?) but we know from watching he's not intimidating.
I don't see him having a biz type finish to up his value bc biz is a man and bebe is boyish. Either way, he's a niche market so a team that needs his skills will trade. And he's cheap.
Remember, you wanted to showcase Ross and hold back Powell. Ross regressed back to his mean as the season progressed. But, he still held value bc hes a specialist and that's what the magic wanted. Wouldn't have mattered if Powell took mins. Perhaps, Ross would have looked more effective, in less mins. I think I read that somewhere?
Anyway, from what ive seen of bebe in previous yrs, hes already played as well as he is currently capable of playing. He's shown the league everything he's got.
Beyond that, the modest return we get for bebe is outweighed greatly by the strides we need yak to make. That's a much greater impact to the team.

                    • Wait, your evidence that we should play Poeltl over BeBe is that we did the exact opposite in the Powell/Ross situation and got Ibaka out of it? Alright...

Yes, bc norm did play, proved he deserved the spot and we still got Ibaka. Part of the incentive of the trade is opening mins for norm bc he proved he deserved it. Your plan was to send norm to the dleague which was obviously not a good idea. Can you admit that now?
Similar in this case, bebe has demonstrated his value and that won't dip if yak eats some mins. It's more important that yak gets high level experience heading into the summer bc we might rely on him next yr. And again, like norm, yak is the better player. We had this exact argument over norm/Ross.
In reality, Casey likely chooses bebe, just like he did with ross. Guess you agree with Casey more than you think? 😋

They're tanking and have young players at his position.

Sully is obviously not a franchise changer but he could help them win games and they much rather have a shot at Lonzo Ball or Fultz than win a few meaningless games. Not to mention since they're not competing for anything rather give his minutes to continue to let Chriss and Bender work out some kinks and get used to the NBA.

But Ross never sat or saw his minutes change much to get Powell minutes. Powell got chances when DD and/or Carroll were hurt or not playing back to backs. You can hardly compare Ross being a consistent part of the rotation right up to when he was traded to your suggestion of benching BeBe.

I didn't suggest to bench bebe or Ross, then or now. I'm saying both guys have "empty" mins and hold back a better player. Casey sticks to his old school next man up. Should be best man up. Like I said, yak will struggle and have bad matchups so bebe will still get mins. For the purpose of trade, bebe just has to tread water now. Imo he's gonna get exposed in the playoffs and we should limit that. He's so soft and that's a tougher brand of ball. He's worn down and injury prone.

Yak is far from ready for the role we need him to play in our future. His experience this yr has been a write off to this point. No steady role, no dleague. He needs to carry meaningful experience forward. Charlotte is a good example.
Same with Bruno. He needs to see the bright lights a little before the summer. He needs to see that is expected of him going into the summer. Potentially moving DMC means having something viable and cheap behind him. Bruno needs to be a legit #3 SF/PF. That can be an empty roster spot next, too much $ tied up elsewhere.
