Yup he was basically a good bet to be an athletic defender with very obvious potential on that end, and could have been a complete offensive bust. He had no obvious offensive skills for the NBA level.
    Just like OG was.

He is upgrading to RaptorOS 6.0. Comes with built in anti-Leprechaun modules and precision KD shutdown technology.

Pretty frickin' damn clutch for sure. Makes it look effortless, but then, if it didn't look effortless it wouldn't make it into a highlights collection I guess. On the other hand, there is a repetition of pet moves and responses to counters that are extremely hard to stop. Skillzzzzzz!

          • Random Monday morning thought: I've decided to get ahead of the constant confusion referring to Leonard or Lowry as KL will cause and have decided to refer to them as KL2 and KL7. That is all.

We could refer to Kawhi Leonard by calling him Kyle Lowry and vice&versa

It's the skill + size advantage. This is what Lowry and DD always struggled with as go-to scorers when everything tightened up. It's why everybody loves size and athleticism in the NBA. At some point your whole season is going to come down to your best guy trying to score over/through the other team's best defender. So many of those highlights were vs. Trevor Ariza, Jae Crowder, etc. etc. Kawhi needs 1 screen or the space for a post-up and that's it. He will go at you or step back and shoot right over your best, longest perimeter defender. The Raptors have never had a guy who could do this at this level before.

Should have been a guy that could do this (make 'easy' contested shots), but early in his career he was almost on the opposite end of the spectrum from Kawhi in terms of efficiency of movement (even if his inefficiency was freaking spectacular). E.g. Vince driving into traffic only to not get a clutch call, or fading out of bounds on the baseline, that kind of thing.

Vince wasn't that good at simply using his length (in the post), or getting to his layup finish when the defense was locked in. Some of that may have been the team around him not providing the space he deserved.

Way too lazy to be adding TWO letters.

Yes and no. He's there but he's not active

haha, okay. I'm starting to get a bit obsessed about what this guy is all about because he's so elusive.

Yeah, VC was good in the clutch but other than the Sixers series, I feel like most of those were regular season buckets. The way Kawhi has performed at a level that elite as the 1A guy on his team all the way through to the Finals - the Raps have never had a guy proven to be able to deliver at that level on the biggest stage before. We've definitely been wishing we had that type of guy the past 5 seasons.
