In my opinion, Kawhi is a leader!
The other thing is, when Kawhi was with the Spurs he was one of the young guys. The vets were Manu, Mills, Tim Duncan etc.. so yeah, of course those guys are gonna be the ones doing the "leading". He's a bit older now, and doing his part in sharing his experience and knowledge with guys like OG and Siakam. Sounds more than enough to me.

From the limited clips we see on Open Gym, definitely looks like Lowry is the vocal leader. He's the guy doing all the pre-game pep talks and doing the post-game rounds of the locker room."We're playing in a building." -- Kawhi Leonard

Less than 24 hours after Pop said Kawhi wasn't a good leader for the Spurs, Nurse was asked what he's learned about Leonard: "He's very serious about his game. He puts in a lot of time on his game. He's surprisingly a good leader. I've seen some great leadership traits from him."

Kawhi's college coach liked his leadership well enough, acknowledging of course that it was of the quiet kind.
Watching the Spurs slowly devolve (sadly) certainly adds to Duncan's legacy. He was the man."We're playing in a building." -- Kawhi Leonard

But that line about leadership is what the talking heads are going to use.Gregg Popovich was asked about Patty Mills' role as a leader this season, given the offseason losses of longtime Spurs like Manu Ginobili, Tony Parker and Kawhi Leonard. Kawhi on Pop's comments: "It's just funny to me. I don't know if he's talking about last year or not. I guess when you stop playing they forget how you lead... It doesn't matter. I'm here with the Raptors and I'm focused on the season and not what's going on on the other side." https://t.co/rhbJZL7tvA

Kawhi on his first career regular season tech: "It was just kinda getting out of hand with some of the calls out there. I mean they're doing the best job they can, but some of the (non-)calls tonight I felt like I got fouled pretty hard."

Does Kawhi feel like he earned his tech? "Definitely."

Was it anger or sending a message: "A little bit of both. You work so hard in this league to try to win the game or score the basketball & when you don't get your calls it's very difficult when somebody blatantly fouls you."
Only one thing matters: We The Champs.
