Report all summer are that raps have not been happy with Ibaka/JV froncourt. Somethings got to give. Dont think they will put Ibaka 20+ mil contract on the bench.

Well the coach says he wants to utilize JV more than Casey did. Don't see him putting JV on the bench.

Most likely scenario is they both start, Ibaka gets subbed out early after like 5 minutes so that he can then come back in to play C with the bench at about 9-10 minutes in.

Don't think salaries will come into play.

That could be a possibility but we know Nurse is high on JV and wants the ball in his hands more. Also when JV starts strong, it changes the whole dynamics of the team.

Then again we have Kawhi.

I'm looking forward to Jonas this season, and what Nurse has in store.

Ah yes. I'd almost forgotten about RR spending all of last summer arguing whether or not JV should come off the bench. Let's start all that up again.


*For the record, I am in favour of bringing Ibaka off the bench this year. Let's all debate that instead lol

The advantage to OG off the bench is you can have either Kawhi or OG (or both) on the court for 48 guarding the best offensive player. Also staggers green and miles who are a little bit redundant.

Lowry green Kawhi to fvv miles OG is so similar it's crazy lol

Where is Delon in there?

The bench will be FVV-Delon-Miles-Siakam-a centre. So either that centre is Siakam and OG slides to the 4, or Ibaka slides there and we get all sorts of wacky transitional lineups, or they go get a backup C and one of Miles/Green is squeezed out of the rotation or both are squeezed into small minutes roles.

Weirdly enough, with all the wings and guards, having Ibaka play purely as a backup C is probably the easiest path. I don't think it's the best one, but it's probably easiest.

Yeah, in those small ball situations I could see Siakam closing things out. We'll find out early on what Nurse has planned for JV. Hopefully a breakout year for him.

With Delon, Siakam and Ibaka the first group to be used to replace spots 1,2, 4, & 5.
