Barring an unforeseen breakout season, $15M seems a fair number. Hopefully we deal him and it's some other teams problem.

Those are the raw stats. Show me who plays 15 mpg? Show me how Demar is better than the combined contributions of these two players?
Here's the advanced stats if you want to actually really compare the players.

You have nothing to base your argument on. We won ZERO playoff games this year. How do you expect to improve this team by simply repeating the same process?
That said, I'm pretty sure if you add up Demar and Lowrys stats they would show to be better than Lebron James, but I think we all know that you'd much rather just take Lebron.Last edited by Joey; Wed May 27, 2015, 02:24 PM.

Makes very little sense to look at "Green + Ilyasova > Demar" simply in a vacuum. I mean, yes, if you add up their stats, they will surpass Demars stats. Granted.

I agree, it is pretty clear that 2 players are better than 1, yet some posters are still seemingly trying to argue that most basic premise.
The LeBron comparison would be very interesting. The PPS would still likely favour LBJ though. In the end, efficiency would rule as king.Heir, Prince of Cambridge

However, in order for that to be actually true, we would need to trot out Ersnny Greenyasova, since we are not considering the other player that would not be seeing minutes because of these 2 players replacing 1.

I think of it like this, if we had these 2 players in for Demar's salary (again using the predicted salary of the original DD commenter), then we are adding talent. Since we are dealing with hypotheticals, we can't predict every roster move that trickles down from this move. That said, we have a large number of free agents this year. We are only adding 1 additional player, so if we drop the worst of our free agents (which we should probably do regardless of direction) then everyone else just gets bumped down the totem pole to ensure the maximum production on the court. Green plays 28-29 mpg. Ersan played 22-23mpg (going off memory right now). If Demar is gone, and say Hansbrough is gone (but Amir retained), would it not stand to logic that the team would be best suited to lower Amir's minutes (to keep him healthy) and balance out the remaining minutes to Ersan, Patterson, James Johnson etc? Removing DD's very high MPG and allocating them more evenly amoung Green and JJ (thus creating an opening of time at the PF where JJ logged minutes), then adjusting the total balance of minutes between Ersan, PP and Amir from the minutes previously allocated to Amir, PP, Hans, CH, and JJ at the 4 - should ultimately make the team better.
Again, all hypothetical.
Only reason we've had to go this deep into the rabbit hole (or is it another kind of hole?) is the refusal to accept that Advanced Stats like WinShares and WinSharesper48 as viable measurements for discussion.Heir, Prince of Cambridge

I really dont think we have alot of options here.
$18M - $20M for player(s) that provide similar (should really be better) win %.

We should be considering what Ilyasova would contribute over his replacement as well, as both Green and Ersan can't 'replace' just Demar in our Starting Lineup. Makes very little sense to look at "Green + Ilyasova > Demar" simply in a vacuum. I mean, yes, if you add up their stats, they will surpass Demars stats. Granted.

For example, ersan replaces hansboroughs minutes on the year and green replaces demars.
Ersan would not replace pp.

He does say "anyone else", which to me implies a single player. Gets far murkier and tougher to gauge when we start combining players and variables.
That said, I believe we could nab either of Al Horford or Tobias Harris with that amount of money, and believe they would both contribute positively to a winning program. I also think guys like Brandon Wright, Jordan Hill and Kosta Koufos are better targets than Ersan for PF.
Not to mention we are discussing all current Free Agents, and Demar isn't a Free Agent until next season (or potentially the year after), when we've hopefully already signed Horford or Harris.....
