2nd last is actually an improvement from a month ago, although I think Utah actually went down rather than us improving.

You can still pass the ball with having a roster of good passers. A system can account for these things with angles, screens and whatnot to make the passes easier. It's not like you ask every player to make Steph Curry or Chris Paul passes.

I was incorrect; I could be more depressed.
Let's add the fact that Utah has been playing without their starting PG all season and have been playing Trey Burke off the bench and starting 2 combo guards in the back court.

Carroll's out for 8 weeks.... and it's going to be hard on us. However, DD and JJ will need to step up & possibly play together. People are saying that this will affect floor spacing.

The solution: DD getting more chances from mid-range using the kickout play usually run for Scola (Drive-in, passout to him for a mid-ranger around 20 ft from the basket. He also gets this from 3 at times.)

You guys don't get that floor spacing can be done from mid-range. It's just a matter of creating space inside.

No, this is an awful idea. DeMar is an AWFUL midrange shooter. We might be better off running ISOs for Biz.

          • Does Masai go get a 3-point shooter at the deadline, or do they trust our shooters - including DeMar - to hit their 3s?

We have good 3 point shooters, we generate terrible 3-point shooting opportunities. Patterson is just missing shots right now, but Lowry is jacking awful 3s, and Ross just isn't touching the ball. Getting another catch and shoot 3pt shooter to not pass the ball to won't solve any problems.

not true, saw an asisst to ross from tonights' game.

anyway, haven't watched the game except for the youtube game recap and since the big mistake of not passing to val, it looked like demar and lowry were making a conscious effort to get him some roll passes and drive feeds, which he mostly converted. great job by them. hopefully they can get a rapport going with jv over the next few games against these shitty teams.

Big difference between a PF and a SG when it comes to "stretching" the floor with midrange. A SG defender would naturally cover midrange to deep. The PF defender would naturally be more in the paint.

Having a SG shoot from midrange won't accomplish spacing.

Plus DD shouldn't be teased with midrange jumpers after kicking the habit.

Just to add on to this; for all the improvement DD has shown this season...he's still a bad midrange shooter.

                    • If DeMar wasn't at least adequate from midrange, he wouldn't be a 20 ppg scorer for 3 straight seasons

Why DD?! Why Not JV in the same play run for Scola? Then you open up the floor and get your big guy involved.

Then you get more opportunities for Lowry/DD/JJ at an unprotected rim

This. DeMar is about the 8th best midrange shooter on our team. Might be lower, don't have adequate sample sizes for Powell, Wright and Bruno.

Well, Jonas, Scola, Joseph, Patterson, Ross are shooting better from 16-23ft than DeMar this season. Personally, I'll take Carroll and Lowry from that range over DeMar as well, despite the percentages. So yeah, I have him 8th.
