JWash wrote: View PostDude... top 3 bigman IS an exaggeration.
It's slightly possible he could be in the East, but in the west you have so many bigs who are and will be better Gasol, Dwight, Blake, Aldridge, Anthony Davis, Cousins, etc, that barring some kind of monumental increase in both JV's role and production next year there is no way he will be a top 3 big in the league.
Drummond is not a better 2 way player than jv.
Monroe is a pf
Deandre is poor offensively...very poor, if it wasnt for paul there wouldbt be much to jis game offensively.
So between you and jwash you have named 2 centers.

To me a big man is a PF or a C, but even if you're only looking at centers the point still stands.

But even if it was only Cs.
Gasol
Howard
Cousins
Horford
Duncan
are better than him on both sides of the ball.
Monroe (who will certainly play as C for the Bucks - and bball-ref says he played 60% of his minutes at C last year)
Jordan
Gobert
Jefferson
Chandler
Bogut
Gortat
Mozgov
Whiteside are all better on at least one side of the ball and in some cases, even equal on the other side.
This excludes all PFs. Because if we're involving PFs in a "Top 3 Big Men" discussion, then Jonas won't even get the light of day.
I can see Jonas becoming a top 3 big man someday, but I don't believe that is realistic for next year, give it a couple years.

Joprdan is useless without Paul on offense
Jefferson is not better than JV
Chandler is one sided and getting really up there in age and his play has reflected that
Bogut is awesom
Gortat, I dont think he is better than JV. so matter of opinion i guess
Mosgov isnt as good. that is pretty much fact.
whiteside? he played good defense in like 20 games. no offense at all.
Monroe I can give you that one with a doubting nod.
Duncan plays alot more pf now I thought
I dont think top three center is that much of a reach considering his growth over the last 2 years.

The list of guys who play C exclusively (not PF's who spend some time at C) is very short. Out of that group, a number of them are defensive specialists with zero offensive game. If you have the two caveats of "legit C" and "two-way player," you could definitely be arguing for Jonas to be in the top three of that group already."We're playing in a building." -- Kawhi Leonard
