Anyone feel like Val's no-step vertical has gotten worse this year? Maybe because of the additional weight?
He's getting the ball right at the basket and often seems to struggle to dunk it. If he gets a step, he's fine. But going straight up he often has to do those weird layups.
Guess how many players have, over the last 5 games, averaged at least 17 points, 8 rebounds, and less than 1 turnover? Just one. This has been a seriously impressive stretch for him.

Yeah I've noticed the team goes to him more consistently throughout the game, although they usually feed him at the start like they've usually done. It's really nice to see and especially because he's warranting the extra touches by playing so well.
Which East player will make the biggest leap in 2015?
Arnovitz: We still haven't seen Jonas Valanciunas, finished product. He's currently an average defender but has enough strength, size and mobility to be elite. And while he's a monster when he works one-on-one in the post, he hasn't mastered the art of leveraging those skills to turn a decent shot into an easy one and a tough shot into a smart pass. The good news: He's likely to have a chance this spring to play a huge role on a big stage.
