Again, it is out of context as it is a single play...was it first play of game? was JV on court for previous 10 minutes? did he have 4 fouls?

But even at that, i think he defended that well, and 33 should have come over faster.

No way. JV played that pretty much the way he should have. 33 needed to rotate on the guy cutting through the top of the key, and whoever was on the weakside should have taken 33's man.

If 33 rotated onto the cutter then they funneled the ball handler into a situation with no easy outlet save for backing up and resetting.

Initial defense was perfectly fine, rotations afterwards were not.

You're thinking about the game from a high school perspective. These are men playing at senior national level.

At this level they are good enough that if you give them a couple of inches they will pay.
