The thing is all the centers coming into the league can all play on the perimeter and shoot from out there. I've said this before for 7' footers to survive in this league now their going to have to be able to guard the perimeter.

You swap you pf on them out there, keep your bigman inside to clean up when these "3pt guys coming in" shoot their 30% from three.
Its the same type of defense that people used on Bargnani that eventually pushed him into a pf role..or Dirk...or Davis...etc...these 3pt shooter start out there, then they become floor spacing pfs instead.

It is a FACT that traditional style centers cannot guard out on the three point line. period.
Show me examples of how top defensive type centers like Hibbert (in his top defensive years) was getting out to defend on the three point line, even if his guy is a "sniper"
And further more, show me how top defensive guys like tony allen can still allow "snipers" like Korver to get shots off from the 3pt line.
you response in my opinion was completely over the top and uncalledfor as it was a simple counterpoint to the post you made.....and instead of attempting to counter my point with evidence of your own you hurl out requests for me to stop, and then just proceed to caps lock your post and then insult at the end.
In my opinion your response totally discredits your original thoughts( even though it was nothing more than a troll post)I'm back. I no longer worship joe johnson

I am not criticizing him for not being good at defending the three point line by stating that guys like Dwight, Hibbert, Chander and Deandre play poor defense out at the three pt line.
That is why bigmen who can consistantly step out there and make that shot are such a hot commoddity. Its because it it very hard for and equally large man to defend that shot.
I have stated that JV need to improve alot of areas, my criticism are just...this is not....

Casey was known for his crazy Zone-hybrid in Dallas, in part to avoid exactly this with Chandler; and we've seen it exactly zero times here in Toronto. Masai has already indicated that the defensive style will be changing to better suit JV, which is exactly what should have been done long ago. It really makes no sense to me having a big scary body like JV being allowed to be that far away from the hoop.Last edited by Joey; Sun Sep 6, 2015, 11:21 AM.

Teams should be able to hold a lead with a high fg% high ft% big against teams going for broke shooting threes with 5 shooters. It's a question of time and %I'm back. I no longer worship joe johnson

Primer wrote: View PostThanks for this. Context is so damn important. JV getting benched because the other team put in 5 3-point shooters makes sense and shouldn't be an indictment on JV's defense.
And I don't know what's new here. Jv's defense was and still is pretty weak. Bit his offence is strongI'm back. I no longer worship joe johnson

Advanced stats and my eye test tells me that JV is an average NBA defender, so I'm going to take twitter reactions to international play with a giant fucking grain of salt. JV is getting warmed up to destroy the NBA, it's good he's working the kinks out before the season starts.
If FIBA play translated directly to the NBA then we just signed the best PF in basketball. Scola is averaging 23.5 pts, 11.3 reb, 2.5 ast, while shooting 53% from the floor.
Wiggins has made a lot of mistakes at FIBA too, I wonder if Minnesota fans have a forum thread shitting all over him?
EDIT: Damn, I just realized JV has only played ONE game so far at Eurobasket, everyone surely needs to calm the fuck down. ONE game guys, singular, 28 minutes total......Last edited by Primer; Sun Sep 6, 2015, 01:12 PM.
