I blame that on Casey more than JV. He still did average 12 and 9 on 57% FG last season. Per 36 mins he averages 17 and 12. Last season Jonas goes on a roll in the first quarter, and then his teammates stop giving him the ball the rest of the game, while DD, Lowry and Lou start playing isolation hero ball, and Casey leaves him on the bench in fourth quarters. Of course that will halt his development/production.

        • JV's per minute production has been fantastic. Only thing he can't control us how many minutes he plays.

Here's another one, real plus/minus for NBA centers last season:

Ranked 30th for his position, but since DD is ranked 31st for his position, it begs the question whether this stat is particularly useful. A lot of the +/- stats get skewed because our bench was consistently beating other benches.

Yeah RPM is kind of a joke. I mean, Hansbrough measures out best from our bigs last year. He was in no way the best big on the team.

                    • General rule of thumb for me is I dont use and +/- stat to compare players from different teams.

It is a bit more accurate within a single team but still has its flaws (ex Hands-bro).

Yeah, I'm not a fan of them either. I still haven't seen one that really passes the smell test.

They can be a bit better looking only within a team, but still need a lot of context to explain the results.

                              • Another look at the real plus/minus is the WAR stat or Wins Above Replacement. If you click on the letters WAR at the top right of the table on real plus/minus table (http://espn.go.com/nba/statistics/rpm/_/position/9) it organizes the table based on WAR. JV is 24th. Jordan, Cousins, Chandler, Gasol and Zaza are the top 5.
