I think the confusion we have to clear up is what happens of a guy misses his pick slot. It happened the last few years. Some people thought it meant you went to the back of the line and got pick 16. then other opinion was the next guy is free to pick but if that person show up anytime after then they can get there pick in.

We gotta make that clear because it caused mass confusion last time.

I thought we agreed and settled on that if you miss your window, the next team gets to select, but you can still submit your pick whenever you are able and it will considered at that time.

Yeah, we should update the text in the first post in the thread to reflect the new decision. The rules list still says if you miss your window you go to the end of the line.

I think that life happens and we should consider keeping what we did last year: don't hold the line but allow him to jump the line if he shows up.

While life happens, life must moves on.

If/when a person misses their window, their window remains open when other people's window open.

There is a case study on this....
The 2003 Minnesota Vikings thought they had concluded a trade in time to swap spots with another team.
Only they didn't get it in according to the NFL.
And then the clock ran out on time alloted to make their pick.

When the Vikings announced they weren’t prepared to make their selection, other teams pounced. The Jacksonville Jaguars hurried their card up to the stage where it was announced they had selected Byron Leftwich, destroying the Ravens’ plans. It didn’t end there.

Moments later, realizing the Vikings still hadn’t made their way to the stage, the Carolina Panthers rushed up their pick, where they selected offensive tackle Jordan Gross out of Utah. The Ravens were scheduled to make the next selection.

Instead, Minnesota made its decision, notified league officials, and it was validated. With the No. 9 selection of the 2003 NFL Draft, the Vikings selected defensive tackle Kevin Williams out of Oklahoma State.


So yes its reasonable to the make this change to the CBA .... if your time runs out the next team in line can make their pick and so on until the team that has missed its slot pick is posted. It will be timestamped .
