  • Sam Bradford looked really good last night for a guy who just showed up. He had timing issues with a few guys but for the most part did really well against a Packers defense that was at his doorstep routinely. Everyone on air thought the trade made sense and was needed if the Vikings intended to compete. Collinsworth praised the move actually, pointing out that Teddy may be out for a couple seasons and this may be a long term move even depending on how that goes. If Sam can improve a little on last night they have what they need to be a factor against the best in the NFC. That defense looked sharp even despite injuries.

Meanwhile the Packers are having their typical September. I don't know who does the schedule but they're not a Packers fan, they don't see their first home game until September 25th.

You can't judge a trade like that in Week 2. He looked good last night yes, but he's also shown to be prone to following up with a poor game or an injury. Plus the value of the pick they gave up is impossible to tell at this point, as is Teddy's return. It was a good first start but I wouldn't call it anything more than that at this point.

If AP misses time, Bradford's real test is yet to come.

      • We can't judge it by two games but we can before any games?

AP will miss time. He has ligament damage.

You can make an assessment based on the assets sent each way. Nothing on the field has really progressed enough to go any further than that.

Part of the issue with Bradford was the injury risk - not sure how 1 game really addresses that.

Part of the issue is that Bradford isn't that good and won't help them in the playoffs - again, 1 game doesn't address that.

Part of the issue is that the first round pick's value is higher than Bradford - not close to seeing where the pick lands let alone the strength of the draft class.

So yes, very premature to say that last night proved anything about the trade.

          • I think you're underrating Bradford's abilities. Dude can make all the throws, he just needs to stay on the field.

He had great accuracy last night, I came away impressed. A bunch of his incompletions were timing issues. That will clear up over the next few weeks. This all coming from a guy who's only had a couple weeks learning the playbook. He's a better QB than Teddy, put it that way.

Bradford has a great arm, always has, but he's never been very good with completion % and that's not just a "staying on the field" issue. Last night was definitely not the norm for a QB who has consistently put up worse completion %, QB rating and Yards per attempt than Teddy - really hard to say Bradford is a better QB. Most likely they are fairly equal in different ways, with one being younger.

              • Seahawks got fined $400k for excessive off-season workouts. Pete fined $200k for it. Wow.

Also lose a 5th round pick and 3 days of OTAs next summer.

                  • Cleveland will start their rookie QB next game vs Miami.

The USC draftee is described as "no outstanding physical traits but a great fit for Hue Jackson's scheme". Was considered a bit of a reach at the draft that Jackson defended (at the draft) with "you're gonna have to trust me on this one".

Oh to be a Browns fan lol

AP should be fine tho, torn meniscus.

                          • Jordan Mathews blew a gift wrapped TD from Wentz at the end of the half. The young gun is pretty versatile and tough. I like his game.

Apparently they are signing Charlie Whitehurst. It will be Whitehurst's 6th team in the last 7 years for a QB with a career total of 10 TDs. You know a team is desperate when they sign "Clipboard Jesus".

                              • Did you guys see the flag bearer last night using his cell phone during the anthem?

There's a great photo of the 3 Eagles players with fists in the air and this guy (wearing a retro Cavs shirt no less) checking his phone in the foreground while holding the flag during the anthem.
