I feel your pain bro. That should have been a 4 pitch walk, but Diaz can't fucking ump if his life depended on it...

No team is without its flaws... The Cubs are pretty damn good in almost every facet of the game ... The only place they seem to struggle is with team defense.. They do make errors at a higher rate than the average team and that will be magnified in a 7 game series when the teams you are playing are also pretty damn good. You can't give extra outs to final four ball clubs ..... Still.. the Cubs will be heavily favoured to represent the NL
The Cubs actually are the best defensive team in all of baseball. They're ranked 1st in all of MLB in defense.

Like i said, this team has no weakness. They are by far the best team in all of baseball.

          No..they rank 14th in fielding percentage...mid pack...

It's the only thing they don't do really well...
Is it a big problem? .....probably not....
Could it bite them in the ass a couple of games...maybe.....

          • What a time to go into another hitting slump...and when they do crush one...like Donaldson did in the 7th..it's right at someone...not their nite again

            • Let's hope old Sanchie can get the W this afternoon... might take a no-hit bid into the 12th to get it done at this rate.

Estrada tomorrow, then we go from there.

Yep. Take the next two at home (very doable with Sanchez and Estrada) then hope the bats wake up against their lesser pitchers (with Kluber being used today, won't be available until game 7 and even then will be on short rest again, which turns Cy Young candidates into average pitchers).

It's unlikely, but doable. At least I'm hoping they put up a fight, make it interesting, and you never know what can happen.

The pitching has been terrific but you can't score 3 runs in 4 games and win much.....

Bats are in an awful funk.

Better pinch hit him if Russell goes 0-2, at the very least, the pitchers know what to do and it's not like Navarro is a slouch. I knew he'd be clutch when he got up to the plate last night. Gibby's a ride-or-die manager though, he'll stick with what got him here.

                      • That was a tough loss man. That loss was tougher to digest than the Cavs eliminating the Raptors. The Raps did not have a chance against the Cavs. You can talk all you want how they beat them twice, that series was never close.

The Blue Jays on the other hand are a LEGIT championship contender. It's just that, the bats did not show up. Donaldson was the ONLY hitter that showed up to play for them in this series. The other guys are more interested in hitting HR's everytime they step to the plate. Absoultey pathetic.

                        • Well that's it...a great couple of years from this Jays team.
Bats went cold at the worst time..but that's baseball.

So all things considered we will be saying goodbye to
Jose, Saunders, Brett Cecil, Grilli, RA Dickey, and sadly to Edwin who is going to get a truckload of money from someone else.
It's the end of AA 's team and the start of Shapiro's.

We have a great returning starting rotation in Sanchez..Strohman, Happ, Estrada and Liriano.
We have a great closer in Osuna.
We need some help in the pen but that can work itself out.

Position players are set at 3rd , Short, Catcher , Centre Field and 2nd if Travis can stay healthy...

We need 2 corner outfielders...a first baseman as Smoak can't hit anything off speed..

Think we try to sign Jay Bruce to fill one of the corner OF holes and if the budget is tight we live with Upton as the other.... with Cabrera as the 4th OF.

No idea who plays everyday first...the idea of a trade for Joey Votto is going to be talked about but we don't have that much in the farm system to pull it off...

It was a great two years...hope we can rebuild quickly.

                          • Assuming Travis has some decent trade value, I wouldn't mind including him in a package for a Votto type, and handing the keys to 2nd base to Goins.

                            • If your a pitcher you wouldn't mind Goins at 2nd....He takes away a lot of hits and subsequent runs. Only drawback is that He can't match Travis bat.
You can hide one guy with no bat and superior fielding but I think that's Pillar.
Getting Votto would be more of how much salary we can eat as it's a loooooong term big ticket deal....Still Rogers isn't hurting so it's a possibility we go after the two ex reds in Bruce and Votto....Just wonder if it's the Shapiro way though.

                              • Good season. Tough way to go out. Last year they lost to a really good, really lucky team. This year they lost to a team that they really should have beaten, especially with the lack of starting pitching and the shit baller relievers who had barely pitched. It's one thing to get shut down by Miller and Allen but they got shut down by everyone.

Interesting off season coming up. But lots of time to talk about that.
