Guys do you think the stars can do better for this season?
They played well enough to beat Nashville and then went 7 with the eventual Cup winning Blues.
They added Pavelski for depth and then got Corey Perry for snarl in the playoffs and some scoring.
And whoever Roope Hinz is..he seems to be able to put it in the net. Radulov must be on something as he’s getting better as he gets older. They have enough guys who can score that some of the pressure comes off Seguin and Ben.

So....If Bishop holds up in net ..the stars are going to a very tough out.

Couldn't happen to a nicer guy. He was a prick 26 years ago when he was at the University of Lethbridge and I'm pretty sure he still is one.

I think the players, Mathews, Marner, Nylander and Reilly, have tuned him out.
          It happens to every coach.
Hell Chicago moved on from Joel Quenville who won multiple cups for them.
If Joel can be let go..so can Babcock who hasn’t been out of the first round in 10 years.

Guy had a track record and knew the game.

He also has gone 10 years and never out of the first round and he lost the ear of his best players.

            sports is ruthless eh?

Thing is, when you're a nice guy and everyone likes you, you can buy yourself more time. When you're a jerk and no one likes you, well, let's just say that when your time comes, no one is going to give you the benefit of the doubt or much care about helping you out.

He flew back today..took it in person. Old school. Not 100% sure but I think a really big chunk of his 50M$ has been paid up front..Not much monetarily left to actually pay out.

It was Shanhan who did it. In fairness it was Shanahan who hired him but to me Dubas looks like a coffee gopher right now.

The clock is now on the players. The big bad bogeyman who didn’t know shit about us and the way the game is played today is now gone. Mort. Finis. Dead.

                It’s now showtime....

Lets see who turns up the gas on their to date..pretty crappy season.

                • Well, you can't fire 15 players, so you fire the coach. Have to think the brain trust is also on the clock now....

                    Yeah...
It was Shanahan who let both Lamarillo and Hunter go in favour of Dubas.
                    A-serious decision to be sure.

There is a a lot of collective skin in turning this around for both Dubas and Shanahan.

                    • Well the parade has been rescheduled .

With a 3 to 1 win in Arizona the Toronto Maple Leafs are now Stanley Cup bound led by untied and unbeaten coach Sheldon Keefe.
                      Buzzword of the night. Smiles.

I wanna believe. I really really do.

                          • It was a gutsy move to replace Babcock as early as the Leafs did, but on the other hand there's definitely something to be said for pulling the trigger on a move like that before the team falls too far out of the playoff race.

On the Winnipeg front, this continues to be the worst possible season for the Byfuglien situation to playing out as it is with injuries early to Winnipeg's defense (and apparently a couple more injuries tonight. It feels like there is some Kawhi-level mistrust in the Byfuglien camp, although if the Jets are putting Spurs-type pressure on Byfuglien it hasn't been leaking in any significant way. And Byfuglien hasn't done himself any favours by handling things the way he did, basically forcing the Jets' hand on the suspension and tanking his trade value by virtue of his combative relationship with the franchise and his decision to have the surgery he had with zero input from (or as far as I know, notice to) the team.

It seems likely that Byfuglien has played his last game for the Jets, and that the most the Jets are likely to recoup with the inevitable trade (if it even happens this season) is a late round draft pick or two and maybe some cap relief. And it seems telling that, when you compare the end of last season to the start of this one, the Jets seem to play better without Byfuglien than they do with him.

In Calgary, the team wins or there are a lot of empty seats. Fans here won't come out for rebuilds or non-playoff teams. I couldn't even give some seats away to a recent game. It puts GMs in a really tough position, especially given how the ownership group has changed with a couple of the original owners dying (Doc Seeman and Harley Hotchkiss) and the more hardline, money-grubbers in charge. I don't think he's safe.

                              • Well of all the pro sports league, the one that needs to get back and running the most as they are a gate driven league, is your NHL. Yet they seem the furthest away from getting out of the blocks.

If they do get it going....and they play some kind of tourney like we played in the “O or the G” on away tourneys....would you watch in July or August ? It just seems so out of synch to have hockey when it’s 30 degrees outside.
