  • Toronto-Indiana-Milwaukee

Toronto gets: George Hill, Gary Neal, Chris Copeland
Indiana gets: Kyle Lowry, Ekpe Udoh
Milwaukee gets: John Salmons, Orlando Johnson

George Hill and Gary Neal are both ex-Spurs so they come from a good system. Neal can also play point if he has to since he played some PG on the Spurs. Copeland is another Steve Novak. They were also on the Knicks together last season. Even though we lose Lowry, we would still have a solid team since all 3 of these guys have been to the playoffs before, so they can help the team when we make the playoffs, which I think we still should. Copeland being traded helps Indiana re-signing Lance Stephenson. Also gives us some depth at SF since we'd only have Ross, Novak, Fields. Hopefully Dwane Casey can teach him to play better defense, since he's a liability on defense. Would Masai also ask for picks with this? Neal and Copeland are also on 2 year contracts like a bunch of guys on the team making for an interesting 2015 off-season when a bunch of people are off the books.

It's funny in the way the Raptors look like a team made of a bunch of ex-teammates (Lowry-Patterson-Hayes, Novak-Fields, Hansbrough-Augustin, and if the trade works Hill-Neal, Hill-Hansbrough, Novak-Fields-Copeland)

Kyle Lowry is an upgrade to George Hill, and can be the piece to put the Pacers over the top. He and Ekpe Udoh are both expirings so that should help the Pacers when they try to re-sign Lance Stephenson.

Milwaukee will probably have to get a pick/picks. The trade can also work with Steve Novak being traded, but John Salmons' contract is better (guaranteed ~8.5 mil since contract has a team option). Orlando Johnson is a throw-in to make the trade work. He's also only guaranteed ~788k since his contract includes a team option.

I don't understand why Toronto would do this. They don't upgrade talent. They don't upgrade depth. They don't improve flexibility. And they don't gain draft assets. Oh, and by your logic, they still make the playoffs, so they don't get a better draft position this year, while adding over 14 million in salary going into next year in a lateral move, at best (likely they'd fall in the standings, though who knows how far).

Are you trying to out-tenforthewin tenforthewin?

Oh boy, two overpaid former Spurs roleplayers.

The Raptors don't need another chucker (Neal) who loves his own shot. He's 29, he's not getting better. The Raptors don't need an overpaid point guard who isn't a pure point guard (Hill) when they're trying to develop both a wing scorer and a post scorer. If you're going to bring in Hill for 8 million why not just pay Lowry 9 or 10?
