  • And Trudeau and his acolyte apologists in the media all said no to this concept that the protestors were not opportunistic fringe types taking advantage of a situation.

no details yet, but the lawyers look happy. i will assume the other people's money gambit was employed again. we can thank record federal revenues for the availability of this money too.

the lesson here is another one of trudeau's failures, or successes, depending on your point of view. if you believe in the law, and canada then it is a failure. if you believe that some people are more equal than others, and therefore need a separate set of rules to live by then today is a success.

today we learned that the elected officials of the indians aren't who we need to be negotiating with, it is their kings and dictators that are in control. these few have the power to overrule all levels of democracy within the tribes. we smartly rewarded this behavior to dissuade it's future abuse.

This is all going completely off the rails - no pun intended. The land title claims in BC number in the dozens and involve thousands of private land owners as well not to mention that many of the title claims overlap and even claims from various clans that make the bands are not consistent. Lots of these bands have been negotiating in good faith for years with BC and the feds and this is going to throw a grenade into those discussions.

And these chiefs still oppose the pipeline, which was the entire point of this whole exercise....

        What a mess.

        • In the US, fascinating to watch the last two days in the Democrat party. Four years ago, the Republican establishment was in full panic mode trying to get the nominees to consolidate to stop Trump. Not only did that fail but they utterly failed in moving their voters off Trump.

Flash forward to 2020 and in the span of two days, a laundry list of the Democrats running for President (Buttigieg, Klobacher, Beto!) fall in line and endorse Biden. We'll see if the DNC establishment has as much sway with Democrat voters.

          • Bloomberg is quitting the race. The most expensive disaster in election history anywhere in the world. $500,000,000 to get... nothing. Think of all the good he could have done with that money other than fluff his own ego.

And to think, all he had to do was hire some Russian online trolls for ~$100,000 to post semi-literate Facebook ads and he'd be President!

              It's all a tax write-off isn't it? That's what I figured.

He got something. He can live without the regret of the "what if?". Its expensive, no doubt but it is all relative. What's a half billion when you have 55 more? I feel like he entered too late though.

                • Trudeaus policy decisions are showing serious stress cracks.
Buffets company doesn't believe that a G7 country can be trusted right now.
Its a 10B$ project and Buffets share was 4$B. Losing that business confidence is sobering.
Its not dead.. but if anyone knows where there is a backfill for 4$B Msr. Legault is taking calls.

                  • ok, so america shoots down our allies plane in iran, we bravely pay for the dead, and are now welcoming the family of the dead into canada. the dead guy wasn't even a canadian citizen. i can only assume the family will be paid some money for the loss they have endured at the hands of the great satan, and canada can move forward with its great international policy of appeasing terrorists and communists so we can have a seat at a table that countries like north korea use to show their people how legitimate they are.

The family of an Iranian graduate student at the University of Alberta who died when Iran shot down a commercial jet in January is now living in Edmonton, alleging they were forced to flee threats from Iranian authorities.

The parents, younger brother, and aunt of Amir Hossein Saeedinia arrived in Edmonton eight days ago and will seek refugee status, said Reza Akbari of the Iranian Heritage Society of Edmonton, which helped the family.

Akbari said the family had been pressured by Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps not to speak publicly about the government's handling of the Jan. 8 downing of the Ukraine International Airlines flight.

                          • picking up on canada's position of blaming america for iran murdering canadians, china blames america for the corona virus. in chinese news they are becoming the victims of the disease now, and they are closing the borders with other countries. so remember it was racist last week to stop the communists, and disgusting that america would restrict access to prevent the disease, but it is completely prudent to restrict the borders of china, to protect its citizens. makes sense to communists.
