Do we suspect any funny business?
Pointless. Just needed to be defending ourselves for the last 20 years and touting how great the oil and gas industry is for our country and modern society. Total failure on the part of the industry in Calgary and the government here, which in part allowed the radicals like the Liberals now in power to demonize and eventually destroy their fellow citizens.

Can't wait for this next budget and the new green economy. My hope is Trudeau bans oil and gas drilling entirely. Need to get the separatist ball rolling - up to about 30% right now and the separatist parties are polling around 8% but that will give us the trigger we need to get a referendum. Come on, Justin!

But this investigation and its foibles has nothing to do with Trudeau, and everything to do with Kenney, no? I'm not deep in Alberta politics, so I could definitely be missing something.

No, it was notionally part of the UCP's push to defend the oil and gas industry from foreign interlopers disparaging the industry and propagandizing against Albertans. Waste of time, money and energy. Basically supposed to be doing the job that the Canadan Associaition of Petroleum Producers should have been doing for the last 20 years but they were too busy selling themselves to the Chinese.

Phew ... for a moment I thought "What has Justin done now?"!!
Thanks for that CBC style lob question on the ongoing life of Justin or as many like to call him "He who steps on his own dick, repeatedly"

HWSOHODR never disappoints with his long list of visionary tilting at windmills policy options which he is proved to be incapable of enacting into real legislation. We got legal weed. After that... we got nuthin. And as a seque into even more nuthin Justin floats up a big never to be enacted to the order paper faux freebie to us all.....The Universal Basic Income....

Priced in at 45$B (as currently estimated by the PBO) is yet another vote grabbing but poorly thought out WE like policy option. Its as if structural deficits will be legislated for us for the rest of our lives.. our kids lives and quite possibly our grandkids lives with little to no ability to debate. Cuz that got shut down by HWSOHODR because questions and accountability are for others and not for me. chutzpah baby chutzpah.
Should resonate well with economists, sorta like like bags of wet cement being dropped from a helicopter onto the pavement *.
Not even a dead cat bounce on this one. Even the socialist Scandinavian countries punted this loser after 2 years. Where is the fiscal anchor for this guy ?

          * WKRP in Cincinnati reference.

          • Bring on the UBI. Bring on the fuel consumption tax on top of the carbon tax. Bring on the capital gains tax on home sales. Raise income taxes. Loving it.

UBI ... not gonna happen. Rest easy pardner. He is softening you (and Erin) up for the more plausible agenda of targeted assistance to targeted demographics or areas requiring sustenance. Would be far more beneficial, manageable and of course cheaper especially with the pandemic related debt loads.

Our NDP premier (currently in a minority coalition with the Greens) believes he can win a majority and simply called an election. IMO, very irresponsible. It will have to be mail-in-voting or you're putting people at risk by having them come out to vote. It's purely a power grab, and most in BC thought Horgan was above this. I don't vote NDP, but I thought he was managing the pandemic reasonably well. Now he wants to have an election? I think BC voters should punish him for it.

This really needs to stop. I get that people were afraid in February and March when little to nothing was know about COVID-19 but we are well past that stage and while the fear with which society has been stricken over a cold may be a wonder to behold for historians, it is well past time to stop behaving like we are in a zombie plague and return to normal like we have done with every virus for the past 100 years.

Personally, I'm not too worried about it. But supposedly it's a danger, and that's what this government has been warning about for the past 6 months. He looks like a hypocrite, making this move stink worse than ever.

And in regards to how dangerous the virus is, I find myself going back and forth on it. Mostly on the side of go back to normal this is ridiculous, but then I look at the numbers, and depending on the way they're framed, it looks bad. I just acknowledge that in terms of scientific understanding I'm a total moron and have mostly chosen to not pick sides on this one too much. I do think we're jeopardizing our future right now for a virus that seemingly doesn't effect 99.9% of people in any meaningful way, but that's my armchair gm speaking. I could be wrong.

I'm in the camp of you should be a little bit brave and try to live your life as close to the good old days as best you can.

It costs me nothing to wear my pull up mask. I have repurposed it from my fishing bag and in order to get service I wear it in stores. Under my own volition I pull it up in elevators when other folks get in and in other close proximity spaces like cabs and uber rides. As a prototypical Canadian I give folks room. So now I give em a little more. I wash my hands. Prolly not as much as I should but I do more way more than usual. The folks that don't wash their hands are probably the same folks that don't wash them after they take a dump so its not a big deal if they leave the gene pool. I will get a flu shot but I do that anyway. Thats going to be about it.

The media is doing a shit job of presenting the story. Yes there are more covid cases but we always knew that without a vaccine we could never eradicate this strain of SARS Covid 19. So the game plan was to keep the ICU's from being overwhelmed. It worked and we did that. Here comes round 2 and we know more and are arguably more ready. To me anyway the gauge is watching how many people are being sent to the ICUs and that remains mercifully low. Covid fatigue from being lectured and hectored by the harpys is very real. I pay little attention to the sky is falling yet again crowd.

Do the hand washing and mask wearing and people slalom on the sideways as best you can as it can't hurt and costs you nothing and by all means follow your own council.. Its usually the best advice you will get anyway....
