We didn’t get the right to produce whichever big pharma patented product we settle on locally put into the contracts.
We will have to wait till they ship it to us.

Please don’t say someone screwed this up 50 years ago.
Look east to Ottawa and the current bumblers who have had the keys for 5 plus years.
We placed our orders in the last 30 days.
Other countries like Mexico did this in April and May.

Justin and Patty and whoever else in the LPC PMO boned the lot of us.
    Hard.
First bold: It wouldn't have mattered... hence why that is not the issue. We don't have the means to produce them. Even if it was written into the contract. Trudeau did allocate a sizeable investment for future possibilities to do so (which is obviously being ignored), but right now, not an option.

Second bold: I think knowing the vaccine you are signing up for, and its efficacy potential is rather important when signing a contract of this size no? Would think you'd appreciate the due diligence in spending and maintaining all options so as to ensure the best possible product for the people.

      He boned us all Joey.
Its hopefully the last mistake in a litany of lazy self entitled mistakes. The list is a long one. You know them as I point a lot of them out on a regular basis. It’s now culminated by dropping the ball on the one dominant theme of this really horrible year.. He missed the bus to get us the vaccine as early as possible. It’s that simple. All of it on his watch.
      Due diligence?
That’s thin sauce as a reason my friend. He committed 350 B$ without so much as a second look. And on getting a vaccine for you and me and 37 million others to re track our lives you think due diligence outweighs that.
      Nope.
No mercy for this self entitled prick and his band of bumblers.

            Come now! Please.

We cannot really discus this lack of vaccine production thing without recognizing the context of our entire health system. We are a relatively small country and the only major production facilities in the western industrialized world are in about 4 who also house the big pharma companies and their research labs. Scale maybe an issue for us absent a pandemic condition.

What exactly did you want JT to do with the reality that we did not have a vaccine production facility when a killer pandemic hit us all?

This is neither here nor there re JT... but why is it we pay considerably less for pharma drugs than to the south and those other countries perhaps?

I wanted our vaunted virtue signalling government to be competent and get the ability via a simple IP rights clause to manufacture our vaccine of choice here.
That seems to be "too much to ask".

Could we do it here....If its not Harpers fault per Minister Leblanc.
Heres a view from one of the Liberal team members at the oh so progressive University of Ottawa and frequent Trudeau ally

Are we privy to the discussions/negotiations and pricing for that licensing? Perhaps it was prohibitive and I understand while there are some vaccine production facilities here they are committed to production lines eg. the flu vaccine etc.

But here is a more expansive piece on the closure of the same large pharma companies facilities in Canada ... and their timeline... delivered by your favourite whipping boy in parliament ... in response to more partisan hacking there. Do read...

They were caught with their pants down. The idea that we can't produce vaccines in Canada should have been a day one issue back in January (we actually can't produce much of anything else either, which should also have been a day one issue but no one cares about drugs or medical equipment either).

The much more important focus was to call everyone racist, keep the border wide open, tell everyone not to wear masks and fail to restock national medical stockpiles.

So the message from the gender equivalent to C.D.Howe, one Chrystia Freeland, perhaps the only person of talent left in the Trudeau collection of UI's that make up Skippys cabinet is that your intrepid warriors in Ottawa have a plan. And if that plan lurches then god damn we have guardrails.

For 350$ or so Billion$ one would hope so.

One hopes that a considered and well managed transition to the next pm occurs without much ado. Ms Freeland shall be a worthy next leader. Glad you recognized so ... and give Skippy thanks for his choice/s.

                          • So the erudite Ms. Freeland, fresh from learning the art of cyphering from Justin and the now deposed Bill Morneau has tabled a budget that lands with an overdraft of around 381B$ that with its built in structural deficits pretty much doubles the credit card balance from 750 Billion to 1.5 trillion in 5 years while GDP will shrink over those 5 years.

Another way to say this is that your rent or mortgage has doubled while your take home pay, the ability to pay for it, has shrunk.

So how are we going to pay for this. It does have to be paid. There is no magic solution where the debt piled on in pursuit of the worlds first woke economy goes away or is forgiven. Well surprise surprise.. Its going to be paid for in taxes picked up by each and every one of us. The lions share of it by those in the 25 to 45 age range as there are just more of those people than any other grouping who are making money. Tax the corporations bleat the woke. Problem is that corporations don't pay taxes. They pass them on to supplier and the end user. Thats us.

Some day we will tally up the costs of figuring out just how many lives were saved and what the monetary costs were per life saved to determine if this was an egregious overreach or not. So far the denominator is about 750 Billion dollars. 100,000 lives was the projection if we did nothing. So thats 7.5Million. There is no price on a human life. Keep humming that as your lot in life and your prospects become a lot less than what you think it should be over the next decade.

Till then bend over and lube up. The tax man from Ottawa is coming. He is coming especially hard for the folks who vote Trudeau.
Because thats where the easy money is.

Ontario got what it voted for. Alberta can't help you bail out Quebec and everyone else this time. All up to Ontario. Congratulations and good luck.

Oh hey, I see the Biden Administration already has their first special counsel investigation and they aren't even in office. Wonder if the left likes the new rules yet? Can't wait for the impeachment trial in 2023....
