Raptors Republic Android & iOS App

Hey guys and gals,

We're running a, how should I say, pilot or beta version of our new Raptors Republic app. We haven't made it official as we're still trying to work out some bugs while improving the user interface. So, its not the final version so expect to see more changes over the next while.

Anyhow, please feel free to download. Available on both Android & iPhone. It's absolutely free.

Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...rsrepublic.app

iOS: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/the-...6946?ls=1&mt=8

If we could ask a favour though. We're welcoming feedback and suggestions on perhaps things you'd like to see. At the end of the day we're doing this for you guys by making everything here easier available for you the user. Please send your feedback (Regardless if its positive or negative) to raptorsrepublic@gmail.com.

Thanks in advance and we hope you guys enjoy the application.

Pretty remarkable how fast we're finding new stars (and as a result, habitable planets) compared to just 10 years ago.
Just wait until my baby, JWST, gets up there.

Hey, I finished my work on it about a decade ago! I'm not holding it up! We actually just finished supporting some testing during the big hurricanes in late summer/early fall, so it's coming. But I've been waiting longer than most on this bad boy, I understand the impatience.

Nah. Work at one of many Canadian space companies to get a hand in the work, though.

            • Neat. New pic of Jupiter.

Is it just me, or is it super unnerving to see a picture like this, and know that there is no actual ground beneath those 'clouds'?

I never understood how a planet with no actual surface can be considered a planet. It's just a ball of gas isn't it? I probably sound like an idiot asking this, but it's always been strange to me hm.

Blame the ancient Greeks. Planet means wanderer, not ball of dirt. When they looked up they saw the planets move across the sky, unlike the stars. And astronomers are sticklers for tradition.

Not stupid at all. Especially in light of the re-definining of the term "Planet" about 10 years ago, when the debate about Pluto came about.

The "new" definition is "a planet is a body that orbits the Sun, is massive enough for its own gravity to make it round, and has 'cleared its neighbourhood' of smaller objects around its orbit."[the last two were where Pluto fell out]

In terms of Mass, Jupiter actually has a larger mass than ALL other planets combined (2.5x to be precise), even though it's 'just' Gas.
