  • I see Trudeau got a less than warm reception from the Daughters of the Vote event on Parliament Hill. It's gratifying to finally see that these women understand that Trudeau just uses them for props for his own political gain.... no one is buying his bullshit anymore.

The delicious part of this is that he must have been absolutely seething at having young women disrespect him that way.

He's never wavered in the hair department, prove me wrong and considering how weak a candidate he was entering the last election, his hair must have played a much bigger role than you're acknowledging. Your biases are showing as clearly as J.T's phony feminism lip service support.

So, you believe AOC stopped Amazon by herself?

Sorry, you picked one of the dumbest columnists in the Washigton Post (Thiessen), a reactionary right wing flamethrower. You may want to checkout his list of columns and content.

Here is a more sanguine and temperate view of the same event.... in the same journal. Yes, NYC lost contributions to their tax base but the issues and refusal to placate Amazon goes further than tax contributions.

The political mugging that Amazon received in New York is a preview of what is in store for American business if it fails to repair the social contract and replenish the social capital it has depleted. The choice for the business community is either to embrace rules and practices that strike a better balance between shareholders, workers, customers and the public, or have rules and practices much less to its liking imposed by an angry and sometimes irrational public.

Your political sentiments may tack heavily in Thiessen's direction but he is truly a consistent single dimensional soother offering no solutions..

So how bad of a look is it for the Libs expelling Phillpot and JWR from caucus? seems all the pillars of the last Liberial campaign have some crashing down the last few months (open-honest goverment, empowerment of women leaders, improving first nation relationships). Going to be hard to campaign again on those principals with all the ammunition they have just given the opposition. Plus no Butts the man who sculpted Trudeau political career.. Must be panic in the back rooms right now..
Its a really bad look... but there are more in caucus who support JT than don't. So out they went.

Losing two high profile and high intellect members is more than a flesh wound. JT is bleeding bad. An already thin bench in cabinet is even thinner. He has Garneau and Goodale and Bibeau as seemingly competent ministers. Morneau continues to reinforce the view that he is an even smugger prick than JT and simply inherited his dads company . Climate Barbie has gone from being just zany and ditzy to outright annoying to most folks. If there is a problem from male pattern baldness to bad breath to the red river flooding its banks in the spring its the result of climate change. Manitoba, Ontario, Saskatechewan and New Brunswick and in a couple of weeks Alberta will all be in court trying to crush the carbon tax. Its bleak at the cabinet table too.

Raybould is articulate and unflappable. She is a consummate politician and garnered a big following inside caucus before SNC. She was the face of First Nations trying to change things on the inside and in a position of power. Now she is out. Don't expect a lot of photo ops for Justin wearing that Hollywood style headdress he brings out.

Philpot is an even bigger loss. She is a family GP from suburban Toronto who isn't a career politician. She handled the Health file without any squawking from the provinces which is simply amazing. She had many friends on both sides of the aisle and in the mandarinate. She was a more than able minister in any portfolio she took on. Her sin was to support a friend who was being railroaded by JT and his inner circle.

Butts still wields the same influence he always did.. he is just kinda working from home these days ....away from Parliament Hill at the compound in Cape Breton. Justins next original thought will be his first. Butts is still scripting the message. The other rat, and she is a rat, Katie Telford has to be running on fumes these days. She hasn't been able to change the news cycle at all. The story isn't going anywhere.

Trudeau is going to bleed votes from women across every age group this time around for how he treated Raybould and he how he just tossed Philpot to the curb for a trait parents try to instill in children... stick up for your friends. If there are any male voters over the age of 40 who vote for him you could put them in a mini van. The Libs were very much counting on the millennial vote again.. but it might not materialize as they got what they wanted with weed being legalized.

Couldn't happen to a nicer bunch...

I've seen a trend in here. It seems like everyone is stupid and/or dishonest who doesn't agree with your ideology.

It's difficult to support globalism and avoid competition... Unless worldwide communism is the endgame and AOC sure does sound like a communist at times. She truly did contribute to the loss of jobs and she celebrated it and the worst part was she did so in ignorance.

              • Yes, William Barr, who didn't even want the job, is working with his life-long friend to redact a report prepared by that life-long friend so that he can misrepresent it to the public to embarrass his life-long friend and because he is sure that the 1,000 Democrat lawyers who worked on the report won't say anything about any of it to the press. LOL. Yeah, that's what's happening. Or maybe the Russians got to everyone!

                • Today (by media guesses anyway) 100's of thousands of Ontario high school students are going to "walk out" of class to protest class sizes moving from 22 to 28. Behind this treachery is either Doug Ford or Mike Harris. Harris still is THE Bogeyman for the teachers union.

The usual gathering spot on the front lawn of Queens Park will have the usual suspects with bullhorns and placards bleating about the usual things. They will number in the hundreds. Where oh where will the rest of the oppressed students be you ask ?

Well a good guess is that prolly 95% of them will gather in strip malls in the afternoon to take their message to the burger joints and fast food outlets where a skip day usually finds them. Perhaps the local malls will see increased afternoon traffic. I for one will miss the essential services high school students provide to the general public on any given day and be hard pressed to do without them being in class for their own benefit and future prospects. Big numbers on report cards usually result in big numbers on the bi weekly paycheque. But hey.. fuck that noise.. we get a day off that the teachers organized for us.

I do hope the organizers in the high school teachers union tell them at some point that in first year university lecture halls average 200 students and that the more popular class times and manadatory courses could top out over a 1,000 AND those heartless fucks on the government bench actually cut tuition fees for them by 5 or 600 hundred bucks and gave them an option to opt out of few hundered dollars of incidental fees.

                  Then again.. prolly not.

                    • Curious as to why non-partisan, objective, independent prosecutors who decided not to charge a target would worry about whether damaging information on their target is publicly released or not and why they are taking to the press to say it should be? Is that the new role of prosecutors now? I must have missed that class in law school. Are you telling me that they aren't the objective seekers of truth and justice people claimed? LOL.

Second question should why didn't they pounce if there's something there?

Third question should be why should Barr release anything when that's not a common practice at the conclusion of these sorts of investigations?

Fourth question should be what reasons do we have to suspect Barr of any wrong doing?

This all sounds like more Russian Trump fake news porn being stirred up to generate revenues. It looks like a lot of people haven't learned their lesson.

There's no need for questions. Just release that damn report.

It appears the hold up, according to the DOJ (who we absolutely cannot question as they are perfect in every way), is that every page of the report was marked confidential in that it might contain grand jury material, which cannot, by law, be made public. Apparently, grand jury reports can be released, but there is a process for doing so that is not part of this special counsel process.

Look, if there's anything damning in there that's not released it will be leaked by the Dem lawyers Mueller hired. You'll get to see everything eventually.... hanging on like grim death.
